Why haven't any vintage Mercedes diesel fans picked this up yet?

My dad had a white '67. It's the car I learned to drive on. As if I don't have enough problems already. Thanks. :ROFLMAO: And yes, 0-60 times were measured with a sundial. I do love the look of it. The famous Mercedes fintail/heckflosse

thinking about a new kia soul lx

Have you been to a dealer? I did. I thought a new Hyundai for$22K or so made more sense than a 7-10 year old Honda with 100K miles for $17K (as a replacement for a totaled 2012 Civic.) They have no cars, and when they do the markup is 16% (maybe more). They stopped texting me when I told them I...

    Car dealer Sticker markup ...

I'm not seeing it yet. My son totaled his 2012 Civic. Used prices for a 7-10 year old econobox with over 100K miles are $15-$20K. Every Hyundai dealer I've talked to is marking up their new Elantras & Accents by $3200, and they can't even deliver the 2022 models because of the seat belt...

Calling all car "nerds": strangely optioned vehicles you've owned?

My dad bought a factory delivered 1967 Mercedes 200 D with the optional shoulder belts but no AC. It also had a chain that you pulled to roll a cover over the radiator so you didn't freeze to death in the winter. I don't know if that was an option or standard.

    Roadtrip in our 18 CRV

Thanks for the report! I'm shopping for a something to replace an older Pilot. Most of my driving is local suburbia, but a car that doesn't seem under powered at 80 on cross country trips is important. Sounds like the CR-V does well on the highway without swilling fuel.

I've a torturous decision before me.

There's a 51 page battery thread on the Outback forums. I didn't read all of it, but it seems 2019 was a bad year for Subaru batteries. Lots of complaining about the stop/start system. Also, college, small town, short trips? I think the trick will be to make this the dealer's problem...

2021 1.5t Accord Sport review (2000 mile rental)

I bought a 2021 EX-L 1.5 in December 2020 and have found much the same things in the 20K+ miles I've had it. The driver assist features aren't very helpful. The adaptive cruise is helpful to keep from running up the tailpipe of a left lane bandit on open interstates, but not much good otherwise...

Windshield washer fluid additive to depress freezing point?

If the fluid in the hoses and nozzles is frozen, liquefying/thawing the reservoir may not be enough.

    2021 oil, 1959 engine? Nash Metropolitan 1500

I had a 1970 Midget 1275 for 30+ years. I regret using GTX 20W-50 as long as I did. Old carb engines don't start as quickly as modern engines and there isn't much lubrication from thick oil until the engine starts. I'm sure I caused more wear cranking it until it started, than in thousands of...

    Standby generator capacitors

I had a tech come to my house for a refrigerant leak and he showed me a dead mouse that he said had died shorting out the motor capacitor on the outdoor unit. He showed me the Fluke meter, which popped up and dropped to zero, which he said indicated a dead cap. I asked him to show me the meter...

2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE - Rental Review

Avis rented me a 2020 Outlander Sport with about 35K in Denver last week. Mrs. & I drove a CCW loop around the state, Telluride, Mesa Verde, Durango, CO Springs and back to Denver. Woefully under powered in the mountains, sloppy suspension, the AC temp was all over the place. I tried to pass a...

Change it or not? 2021 Accord 1.5T

Honda is pretty adamant about leaving the factory fill in for the full interval. 7500 seemed a good compromise between that and my oil fixation.

Change it or not? 2021 Accord 1.5T

I changed it with the Kirkland 0W-20, no filter. The old oil came out black. More so than I'm used to seeing on other cars. DI soot? I certainly don't feel like I changed it too early. It was at about 12,400 and 40% on the MM, so 5K on the oil. Thanks to BITOG for the good advice!

Change it or not? 2021 Accord 1.5T

My plan would be to change out the Edge with Kirkland 0W-20 full syn that I have on hand, leave the filter alone, and not reset the MM. Then change it again, with filter when the MM called for the next change. Then I'm set for the winter. The sump on the car is 3.5 qts., which seems tiny for a...

yes, the OLM is reset and shows 50%.

Change it or not? 2021 Accord 1.5T

It got its first change just shy of 7500, to the Edge. A consensus seems to be forming. :)

Change it or not? 2021 Accord 1.5T

2021 Accord 1.5T. I bought it in December, changed the factory fill in May at about 7500 miles with Castrol Edge 0W-20 & Fram TG. It's now at about 12K, 50% on the MM. The plan is to drive from Chicago to central Florida, so at least 2500 miles round trip, probably 3000 when all is said and...
