    Intermittant brake failure

4 instances of brake failure in the last 3 months. Pedal goes to the floor with no braking. 2009 RAV4. Three different shops have looked at the car - each one reporting that all is good. Currently it's at a Toyota dealer. I have two theories - but I'll hold off until some people weigh in. Unless...

I ruined the driveshaft center bearing support by storing an Escape on blocks with the rear suspension hanging.

I put my son's 2010 Escape up on blocks for the winter. The suspension back there has limited lift points, so I let the suspension hang. I wont do that again! The car now has a vibration above 50 since the rubber bearing support is deformed. Ok, I fixed the problem already - but look out!

VW ATF part II: 3309 vs. LV

A couple months back I asked the group which flavor of ATF to use in my 2018 Jetta auto trans code QPA. Most stated that it should use LV fluid, like the VW fluid with the part number ending in 540. After going to two different dealers, and one online store, with my VIN, they indicated that I...

Which ATF for 2018 Jetta Tsi 1.4 transmission 09G QPA

It has been challenging to figure out which fluid to use. I know it's an Aisin 09G 6 speed with the transmission code QPA. One of the Euro parts websites says they don't have anything. Another recommends their version of a T-IV fluid (although their website says its only for trans code (SCY)...

how to remove REALLY stuck cylinder head - Kawasaki Jet Ski

The unit is older and has had many years for the head to glue itself together. so far we tried PB blaster, the "rope trick" (filling the cylinder with rope and using the starter to pop it off - this didn't work), various hammers, prying tools. We have to clean out bird seed from the engine. (I...

how do you find a body shop for a motorcycle?

I imagine that this question is alot like finding a perfect body shop for a car; but I have never found a shop that does a perfect repair. In this case, I was hit from the left by a minivan, so damage to the shift linkage (it's a heel and toe setup), tank is dented, windshield, fender, turn...

Mystery problem with Cougar timing solved - probably

A couple of weeks back I posted that our car suddenly started missing, running poorly, lacked power. Of course, adding to the confusion were the following facts: - my son swapped out the MSD 6AL for a 6+, preparing to setup nitrous injection and wanting to use the timing retard feature available...

hi perf engine runs bad. how to diagnose?

we built this a few years ago - Dart 351 block with Eagle stroker kit. ran strong and good. until now. I strongly suspect one of the kids trashed on it; and he also replaced the ignition box with a different unit, anticipating to add nitrous (against my wishes). I know its hard to diagnose...

Split rail fence - post depth?

Most of the instructions for installing split rail fence posts seem to indicate a burial depth of 24-30". This is not below the frost line in my area, which I believe is 42". so, how deep to bury? 800' of fence to install.
