    Toyota OEM 90915-YZZD1 C&P, 2957 miles

Understood the rattle complaint. I was just pointing out that the Toyota Thai Denso black adbv has burn tested as silicone, not "nitrile" as stated. 'Fwiw', first time I can recall reading a complaint about a startup rattle using the Toyota Thai Denso OEM filter.

    new tires daughter's car

Since I mentioned Amazon pricing for OPs tire, they have since updated the price and it now matches the WM price. It was $30 and change per tire. 😲 Perhaps someone scored a deal.

MF tractor: Easy Oil Change. The Old Fram Stays on.

I ran a Napa Gold 1348 on a Kohler Courage (not) 19 hp engine 7+years, ~2 oci, posted c&p, looked great when changed. No reason to think OG Ultra can't handle it. Electric extractor nice touch for ride on/OPE oil change.

    new tires daughter's car

DT doesn't sell that model Firestone so can't compare there. Otoh, (as noted above) WM does show that tire in that size for ~$140 each. ~$560 for four before installation and taxes. Basic installation package there $72 for four. So that gives you some comparison to what you paid. I hesitate to...

Discount Tire Direct becomes Tire Rack?

Same. Yes, they have added wipers to their sales repertoire, but for me that's just been a polite "no thanks". I've seen no high pressure. I also like that they have stayed away from alignments and excepting wiper query, just dedicated tire sales and tire maintenance. On further review, unless...

    new tires daughter's car

To be more accurate, is the tire sidewall name, "All Season" or is that just the generic type Firestone tire it is? If former, need sidewall name to compare.

    No more Super Tech MP?

MP series being history now has been discussed here at least a couple months. Looks to be a fact now. Most recently an ST white box cartridge filter posted looks to have been upgraded. Wonder if something similar planned for the ST white box spin on.

Need recommendations for a battery charger

I like my NOCO 2 amp, gets the job done. Does everything I need it to in a speed that's decent. I got it from Amazon on a Black Friday promo sale 2+ years ago. I've also read good things about the NOCO 5 amp, currently ~$20 more than the 2 amp.

    Your favorite jobber oil filters?

Can't say I have a "favorite", but I do have two Puro Tech TL14610 with nitrile adbv got for $2.40 from Amazon. I'm interested in seeing how they do. Seen one or two cut open on youtube, looked decent, especially for the cost. Normally though, prefer a filter with a silicone adbv.

    Toyota OEM 90915-YZZD1 C&P, 2957 miles

If that is a reference to the Toyota OEM Thia Denso made spin on, the black adbv on the 90915-YZZD3 has been burn test proven to be silicone. It's currently the only black adbv proven to silicone. In contrast to that, the Denso First Time Fit (FTF) made in China with black adbv has been proven...

Unknown brand filter C&P; 20K miles

Looking at endcap design with raised rings, louvered centertube, and bypass stamped spring combo, support your Champ Labs made conclusion. Pleat spacing and amount of media not good, leading to eventual tear(s). 20k miles on what looks to be a jobber/value type filter not intended for that fci...

    AutoExtra 57002 from RA

Auto Extra filters are jobber tier filters made for AE to their specs, in this case made in Mexico. Do I think they are equivalent quality to a the standard Wix, normally made in the US? No, I wouldn't expect that to be true. Do I think they are likely ok for a standard oci, 3-5k mi max? Without...

Why do people use the rear brake?

Because they've never taken a motorcycle safety course and don't understand how MC braking works. I don't ride now but when I did took a MSC at local Community College twice. I do think how braking done in a vehicle makes rear braking more instinctive when not educated on MC braking techniques.

    Champ / Luber-Finer PH2867XL - wouldn't spin on

Fwiw, I can't recall seeing an error like this before, let alone on multiple filters. It seems RA on the receiving end of the Champ Labs error. Looking at the manufacture dates, looks to be same date on this and previous thread. So, I'm thinking a mislabeled lot/run of filters here that ended up...

    The problems with GDI

Agree with mentioned article publication age notation. While I won't link to it, I found a more recent yt video by "Engineering Explained" with 'imo' very useful information. A google search of 'three problems with GDI" first vid choice should be it. Own a couple GDI now, pay most attention to...

Discount Tire Direct becomes Tire Rack?

Interesting development on DTD combining with and moving to the TR website. Though I've never purchased from DTD, I've frequently used them as price (price match) and tire availability reference before a tire purchase at b&m DT store. That includes some relatively recent purchases. Not so with...

    Champ / Luber-Finer PH2867XL - wouldn't spin on

As accurately noted in my first post, same issue as @jeepman3071. Wrong box and wrong label. Also, same HP4477 received in wrong box, wrong label. Filter equivalent to 4386 used on Toyotas, not Honda/Acura with metric thread.

FRAM EXTRA GUARD 3682 CUT OPEN

Element looks fine in virgin state but EG supposed to a have a silicone adbv, at least according to advertising. That said, for a buck not much to quibble over. "10k miles", I wouldn't. Thanks for c&p.

    2010 Rav4. ST9972 FILTER

Nice looking cartridge, even more so for low priced ST. Wire backed, wth. And made in the US. (y) IDK how this happened but 'looks' to be a high quality cartridge. Almost looks like an OG XG variant. Imo, no need to do a side by side with Toyota oem cartridge. A simple search will show many of...

    Champ / Luber-Finer PH2867XL - wouldn't spin on

Not long ago, @jeepman3071 had similar/same issue with "2867"Champ XL from RA*. The WRONG label was on the filter and it also wouldn't screw on because wrong thread pitch (sae). Reads like that's what happened here again. Between the Mexican made Bosch crap (nothing "premium" about it) and now...
