Chevy V6 (Colorado...) - best oil?

FWIW, I dumped the FF in my 19' at 2.5K. Ran M1 5W-30 for a 2.5K OCI plus two 5K OCI's. I am now near the end of my first 5k OCI with M1 ESP 5W-30. The NAPA sale was too good to pass up, even if the ESP is not dexos1 approved. I purchased enough for 4 services, so I'm not planning on using...

    2006 Rav4

I suppose draining and filling with OE WS once a year and a new filter every other year will keep things just as happy. Seems like a reasonable plan to me. Car does not see any towing, but does see loaded trips out to WV mtns for family and skiing. If i do go the Ravenol route i'll try and get a...

    2006 Rav4

Her car has the 2AZ lump with 4wd. I've been good about doing just a drain and fill (4qts) once a year. I did the filter 3 yrs ago and I plan on doing a new one this go round. It looks like the whole system will take between 11-12qts. I then would like to re-service the transfer case and rear...

    2006 Rav4

I've had no ill effects using their products in both of my VW's engine, transmission & braking systems. Figured I'd give it a go and see how it works.

    2006 Rav4

I did not want to hijack one of the maxlife threads, so here is my question. Car currently has about 110k on it. I have done a yearly drain and fill (4qts or so) with OEM WS fluid the last 4 years. This time around I was thinking of having the whole system drained and going with a higher...

    Ravenol USVO oils.

I am at the beginning of my second OCI with VST (non-usvo) in my 07 GTi. I'm hoping that when I place another order they will have the usvo version of the VST or RUP available.

The info Porsche provide, along with their reasoning was a good read. Seeing how these are designed for only their air cooled engines, I'd guess that Porsche thought this through pretty thoroughly and developed accordingly.

    Porsche Classic Oil

Oil Changer, good lord man! Just thought folks here might be interested to see this.I know nothing about this oil, other than what was on the website. I thought this would be a relative post for others who might be interested. To answer your 3 questions: 1)No freaking clue 2)M1 0w-40,T6, TGMO...

    Porsche Classic Oil

I have no reason to use either of these. This was merely meant as an FYI and to start a more in depth discussion on these two different oils.

    Porsche Classic Oil

Hey All, I hope this is not a redundant post. But, the Porsche Classic dept just recently released 2 different grades specifically designed for all air-cooled Porsche engines. Hopefully I've summed it up correctly: Mineral based 20w-50 (All engines up to 3L in displacement) PAO based 10w-60...

    Rotella T5 for everything?

Sure, I'll get the UOA's posted as the service comes due. I'd feel bad about starting this discussion without providing some data as evidence.

    Rotella T5 for everything?

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm going to go ahead and make the switch to T5 and see how it holds up. All equipment/vehicles are serviced at their specified OCI's for normal service. Will follow up later on with an update. Thanks again!

    Rotella T5 for everything?

The SAAB 2.3 is n/a in our vehicle. My idea behind this is the simplify all of the maint fluids around the farm. My folks are getting a little older and I'm just trying to keep thinks as simple as possible for them. Like you said, probably not the best for each app. But it should do the job...

    Rotella T5 for everything?

My family farm is out in Western MD but the lows during winter are usually in the 20's, maybe a night or 2 in the teens. My initial choice was T6 for everything. However the mower has a shared sump for both the engine and hydro trans and JD wants nothing heavier than a 30wt in it. I suppose I...

    Rotella T5 for everything?

Thumbs up or Thumbs down on using Rotella T5 in all of these applications. I would like to only carry 1 engine oil to make things easier around the farm. 1) 07 Duramax (LBZ) 2) 03 Astro AWD (4.3) 3) 93 Saab 9000 CS (2.3) 4) 92 Ford 2120 5) 92 John Deere F525 6) 3 Honda GCV160 engined lawn...

    NH 134, NH134b,

Little update for everyone, 2120 is running better than ever. Since the fluid service we have put an additional 100 hrs on the machine with no negative side effects. I also found a number of loose bolts in various locations under and around the machine. All bolts were torqued to spec and all...

    505.01 oil for VR6

They had all sorts of variants on the basic design before they finalized the AAA 12v engine. I am almost positive they had a diesel in there somewhere. I'll dig through my boxes of old MK2 stuff. I think I have a few old porsche &vw magazines that I read it in. Either way, the sound that engine...

    505.01 oil for VR6

Years ago in my 97 Jetta GLX I ran castrol syntec and or GTX 10w-30 not really knowing anything about oils. Now in my 92 SLC I am running Rotella 15w-40. No complaints with the Rotella. Summer oil temp stays right where it should be for an SLC and little to no consumption or valvetrain/timing...
