post your latest transmission lubricant change.

I second what BAJA said, I've always found it to help my AT's perform better.

    09 Lexus RX350 with 26k miles

Well if you do go with it, best of luck! Looks incredibly clean and yes you will definitely have some maintenance items but I still imagine it will be a great vehicle. Just put the vibes out there that it will be a good car, can't worry too much about the things that "might" be.

Trade up for newer Ford F-250 PSD

More features and more power. But I'm with you, the juice isn't worth the squeeze!

    Review - '18 Mazda CX-9 51k miles

Update: The CX-9 is still in the stable and wife and I both still really like it. She's sitting at just shy of 75K miles now. For a while I was racking up a ton of miles on it, but not so much now as my wife works from home and I commute in the Crown Vic. There has been zero repairs since the...

    Ham - Hot or Cold?

Don't eat meat anymore, but I used to love me some Honeybaked ham. Hot or cold, no discrimination.

Modern Turbo Engine Reliability and Durability

Depends on the manufacturer, some seem to be better than others. But I feel like overall they're pretty good. Our CX-9 is T-GDI and I keep the oil change intervals to 4-5,000 with a well-priced synthetic. It's currently at 74K and runs beautifully. Will do either EC or BG EPR soon to give the...

    08 Ford 5.4 3v 138k oil consumption 5w30

My brothers '07 5.4 uses around a quart per 3500-4,000 miles. I like the suggestion of changing the PCV valve. It also might benefit from some cleaning; maybe HPL EC, MMO or BG EPR. As an aside, I wouldn't go beyond 5k OCI's with this motor; they are fickle to say the least.

    New Silverado Acquisition

I don't blame you on the F-150. I think they're nice trucks, but have heard about a lot of issues with the 10 speeds. I would hope they'd be worked out by now for the 2024 models but I'm not sure. I'm sure it was incredibly frustrating to have an expensive vehicle with constant issues. You're...

High mile 4.6 Ford - Ok to use heavier oil?

Your butt dyno must be more finely tuned than mine! I can't tell a difference going from 20 to 40 myself. Also, mpg remains as it always does, between 22-24mpg on my mostly highway drive.

High mile 4.6 Ford - Ok to use heavier oil?

Would be no problem on the 4.6. Many of these motors have seen 15w40 in fleet use. My old mechanic used to think that 20w50 was needed in everything. He maintained a limo/business fleet which was mostly Towncars at the time. Many of them had 300-400k on the thick stuff with no issues. I...

    2023 Ford F150 3.5 EcoBoost Recommendation

I'm in the camp of not extending OCI's on these motors. At 5K, I would run any of them really. If it were mine, I would use a 0/5w40 or Euro oil that I wanted and the 5w30 for something else if possible. That way the oil doesn't go to waste but I could still use what I wanted in the motor ;)

Post your latest screw-ups (here's mine!)

Happens to us all for sure! I made a post several weeks ago about dropping a washer in an intake manifold after I had already put in on the car. Tried to fish it out, but ultimately had to remove it to retrieve the washer. Lesson learned was; more patience grasshopper....

    Real world pickup fuel mileage?

Yes absolutely I think my best tank ever was 17.5 in that truck. Not the greatest fuel economy but it was an awesome vehicle

    Obesity rate map of Europe

Agreed with a lot of points here; table sugar and HFCS are absolutely an issue. Some of the leanest/longest living countries in the world eat a high carb diet, but whole foods!

    Post your latest oil change

2008 Crown Vic: Out: ST 15w40, Ceratec, MC filter In: ST 15w40, MC filter 186,504 miles. Went almost 6,000 mi on this interval which is long for me. Oil was not nearly as dark as I thought it would be actually looked good with the Ceratec coloring. I'm thinking the EPR did a good job cleaning 🍻

Interesting failed 2018 Nissan 5.6L video

I can attest to that, our old Armada darkenedthe oil very quickly. Same when I changed The oil on my brother's Titan, within 500 mi it was noticeably darker
