Pablo - Yes, I've been listing the incorrect oil. ASM 0w-20 is what I have. I bought the case of 4, one gallon containers and 4 Ea0-13 filters in Sept of '09.

Who runs OCIs greater than 12,000?

Pablo & all - I stand corrected. I've been running Amsoil ASM 0W-20 these past 80,000 miles

    Pennzoil Ultra vs. Pennzoil Platinum?

My OLM regularly let me go to 8500 with a basic dino oil for my highway based driving. Should be able to stretch a quality syn oil beyond that, don't you think?

    Pennzoil Ultra vs. Pennzoil Platinum?

It's nice (and rare) when people agree. Everyone says PU.

    Pennzoil Ultra vs. Pennzoil Platinum?

I'd like to stretch the OCI as long as is prudent. The Honda engine, mostly on the highway .... how far could I go?

Who runs OCIs greater than 12,000?

My OLM gets me to about 8500 IIRC, and that's assuming reg oil. Since I drive high mileage, I desire extended OCI.

    Pennzoil Ultra vs. Pennzoil Platinum?

Which Pennzoil oil would be better for extended OCIs in an '08 Civic? Which filter would you choose to help maximize OCIs? Thanks!

    Honda and Amsoil

I am considering changing to M1 EP with an M1 filter, or PU with a Wix and trying again to run 15k OCI. But I just got a complete fill of Amsoil SSO and a new/improved Amsoil filter so I have a couple of months to decide. What ever i do, I must watch my oil level more closely to monitor...

That is exactly what my mechanic suggested, but when I went in last week to have just the filter changed at 10k, he said I was 2 quarts low and basically did a complete oil and filter change and charged me $80 for the service. I wanted the best for my new car and the high miles I drive. I...

Who runs OCIs greater than 12,000?

All the info is here; http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2128125#Post2128125 I'm just a guy who drives a great many miles every week/month/year who would like to protect my engine, help it last 300k miles, and not be in the shop 7 or 8 times a year.

Who runs OCIs greater than 12,000?

For those of you regularly running extended OCIs, post vehicle, oil and filter, and interval. Me? 2008 Honda Civic EX Amsoil SSO 5w-20 Ams OEA-13 filter Was hoping to get 15k OCI (mostly highway).... but it's not working out

those are very good suggestions. I will do as you suggest. My frustration is in having to start over. I have mostly myself to blame as I had always assumed that a relatively new engine running a top quality synthetic would not consume any oil.

    Honda and Amsoil

I'm really annoyed with myself and my Amsoil mechanic because I twice had the issue with engine noise and the low pressure light coming on ..... and to this day, Idon't know if the cause was oil consumption or filter clog. We assumed it was the filter due to the known issues with these engines...

Bryceban - Thanks for the reply. What oil and filter do you prefer? M1 and Wix at the moment? Isn't the M1 filter perhaps slightly superior?? I would be very happy to find a 15k oil and filter for my little Honda engine that will protect it well. As noted above, the Amsoil combo has given me...

    Honda and Amsoil

That TSB was sent to me in the mail, and my mechanic was very aware of it. I guess that's why he is suggesting the 20k for oil, 10k for filter intervals.

You recommend a Purolator or Wix, not a M1 filter??

    Honda and Amsoil

I'm liking that suggestion bepperb. It would likely save me a little $$ and the M1 stuff certainly is easier to get than the Amsoil.

If I were to decide on 10K OCI, I could use a less expensive oil and filter (less than Amsoil) YES? Would really like to get 15k+ if at all possible.

    Honda and Amsoil

What I don't know, but REALLY WISH I DID, is whether I was getting oil pressure warnings after 13k miles due to the filter being abit clogged, or the oil level low. I am an idoit for not finding this out the 2 times it happened to me. Makes it harder to decide a new course of action. I'm sure...
