    1.9l ford overheated

I believe it's somewhat common for those engines to drop valve seats especially if they are overheated. I've got my 97 escort's engine pretty hot a couple time and nothing bad happened.

    Float valve seat

I was gonna say solder it but then I saw the part about it not being metal. I'd say any two part chemical resistant epoxy would be the easiest solution.

    Should I Replace Original Spare?

It seems like it would be easier to locate a "newer" used compact spare from a totaled vehicle than trying to locate a new compact spare.

    IRS rear tire wear

Mud, if you want you can safely running your directional tires in the wrong direction. According to bitog's resident tire engineer (Capriracer) the only downside is about a 10% decrease in wet traction. Tirerack test: Lap time with Eagle F1 GS-D3 Mounted correctly on a dry track: 29.387 seconds...

    Heavier oil for bad bearing?

I think you have to pull an oil baffle also in order to see the rods.

In the market for a compact hatchback

That's lame that a manual Yaris is only available in a 3-door, oh well their loss. You could also check out a Scion xD, not sure if they're any good. If you check out the Kia Soul I'd check out the Kia Rio 5-door at the same time.

Full strength coolant for 07 Honda CRV?

Honda has Type 2 Extreme Cold Weather coolant in quarts which I think is full strength. part number OL999-9020 I'm guessing only Alaskan and Canandian dealers carry it so you would have to order it.

I was going to suggest a base Mazdaspeed 3 but then I saw that good gas mileage is a requirement.

This the conventional super tech oil. My dad forgot to change the oil or even check it so when the sample was taken only about 2.3 quarts remained which is half the capacity. Would the low oil mean the wear metals aren't as high as they seem because they are more concentrated?
