    Mobil Delvac 1 ESP (CJ-4) 5W40, Passat W8, 7k mi]

I did ask for it (as I always do), and they didn't do it. Hence their apologies in the form of a couple of free sample kits.

    Mobil Delvac 1 ESP (CJ-4) 5W40, Passat W8, 7k mi]

Yeah, the lab (CAT/Toromont) dropped the ball on the TBN analysis. grrr... I did get a couple of free sample kits as a result. The Elf was the Excellium DID 5W40 (VW 505.01 spec). With my pricing up here, the ESP is about $1.50 more per litre (~$10 vs ~$8.50), all in.

    Mobil Delvac 1 ESP (CJ-4) 5W40, Passat W8, 7k mi]

My latest UOA, after switching from Elf to Delvac. Very pleased with the oil. Zero consumption, starts easily and runs smooth, wear numbers are impressive, add pack and viscosity seem to be holding up incredibly well. Code: Oil: Elf Elf Elf Mobil Miles: -on Car 46,346...

    Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W40 (CJ-4)

Here are the VOAs side-by-side... Zinc? Viscosity?! Mechan1c's numbers seem more inline with what has been shown in shorter interval UOAs... I'd like to do another VOA - I felt the numbers I got were odd already, and this other VOA only puts them more into question. Code: Mechan1c...

Has anyone seen a voa of Delvac1 ESP?

So... is someone doing a VOA of the Delvac 1 ESP (CJ-4)? I just picked up a case, and don't want to use my last sample bottle for a VOA if it's already been done!

2005 VW Golf TDI PD 78k UOA Elf 507 Solaris

Seems to have helped your Fe; that's good. Comparing to my own UOA's, your Al numbers really jumped out - I've never had higher than 9, and I'm more typically around 5 or 6, even at 10k miles. Your numbers have been consistently in the teens, and I'm not sure if that's a point of concern.

    Elf Excellium DID 505.01 5W40, Jetta TDI-PD

I checked with the lab, re: UFM. This is what they replied with: "As per the 'UFM' numbers, your car being a diesel would have specific limits in terms of soot, oxidation, nitration and sulphation. The limits are 30, 34, 12 and 34 respectively." They didn't comment on relating the values to the...

What is the "VW" Longlife III oil you ran on your most recent changes? [Edit: You must mean the dealer Castrol 504/507...] Impressive Fe numbers. Are you only going to run a 6k max OCI, or will you adjust with these numbers showing all's well? Not sure what to do with the DRF info - what are...

Elf Excellium DID (505.01), VW Passat W8

Nope, air filter wasn't touched - although I'll be doing it shortly as part of regular maintenance. I'm looking forward to UOA's on the Elf Solaris LSX now. I'll have to see if I can find a VOA, and save having to do one myself.

Elf Excellium DID (505.01), VW Passat W8

Here are the past three UOA's from my 2003 Passat W8. Some definite anomalies across these 3... no increase in Fe on the 3rd sample (an additional ~2k miles); a significant decrease in Si in the 3rd sample (more than I'm comfortable explaining away with only a half-litre top-up); inconsistent Na...
