Oil cooler and Gauges on JD Z320m

I took the gauges and oil cooler off the old JD F510 and transferred over to the new JD Z320m mower. It has a v twin Kawasaki 21.5 hp FR651V. Last summer I was consistently getting oil temps around 250F after a hour and a half mow in 80-90F temps. This was measured via the fill tube...

    0w20 in a JD F510 with Kawasaki PA540V 17 hp ?

My F510 has been retired to trailer hauling mostly anymore. And used a lot under 50F. It never really gets warmed up though as it's mostly start and go, then turn off. I do let it run for the first 15 minutes or so when it's cold out. But it's always been a slow cranker when cold. I use to...

    OE alternators

I've never had as good of performance from any rebuild or 'new' alternators. They work but not as good as OE. So I bought a used OE one with 66k miles for my Genesis Coupe off eBay.. Mine currently has +135k miles and works like a charm. I think I'll but a new brush pack in.

    Hyundai Smart Key "Not Detected"

Recently my Genies Coupe Smart Key quit working. Good battery at 3.3v. But would do nothing and I had to use the fob holder to start the car. It seems to be a fairly common issue as the cars get older and the parts swapping then starts wit antennas and receivers. Turns out mine and others...

    Adding a gas level gauge

Anyone done this? I pine for my old JD F510 low fuel level light. Hate running out of gas a quarter mile away. So they make universal sender units with gauges. Look pretty simple to install and under $40US. Here's an example...

    Battery disconnect switch

Who's got experience with a good one. I've had two different kinds and they will give intermittent service after a year or so. The battery is in the trunk so i would like a disconnect under the hood. First two were the Harbor Freight jobs, the one I have now a different design. Should just go...

    Rejuvenating old hoses

I've had really good luck rejuvenating old hardened hoses that are exposed to oil. PCV hoses and such. Gaskets and any other synthetic rubber parts that have been hardened over time from engine use. As long as they are not compromised with cracks. I soak in lacquer thinner for a while until...

    It finally died JD F510

My trusty bought new in 1999 JD F510 finally bit the dust. Seems it lost compression and there is some sort of Automatic Decompression Valve located in the crankcase area. Worked it too hard last year moving all the rip rap and shredded tree wood I had. Still ran good up to that point but it...

    Greenworks warranty

Beware as they only warrant what is bought from Greenworks. No warranty on items sold by a 3rd party I was told today. And to file a warranty claim the only way is over the phone. I was on hold over 4 hours today on two calls. My item was the 8" pole chain saw. Motor burnt up. Had it about two...

    Chimney help

I had an oil furnace with a 6" double wall stack, looks like 8" for the outside pipe. It also carries the propane water heater 3" flue. I replaced the oil furnace with a propane one that has a 4" flue. So now I have the 4" and 3" tee into a 6" and up the chimney. The internal 6" pipe in the...

    New Goodman furnace

I recently had a new Goodman furnace installed. Nothing special, 80k btu/ 80% propane downdraft Goodman GCES80. My question is, can the fan speeds for the different modes; AC, fan only and heat; be set at the same speed? My installer claimed they can't. The manual doesn't really say. Currently...

    How to measure accumulated time.

I have a temperature controller set up with a fan for when it hits the high temp setting. I want to measure the time the fan is on every day. Only thing I can think of is an old fashion dial 120v clock. The clocks are around $15 Any other ideas?

What to do with my fuel oil?

I'm getting rid of my fuel oil furnace. Draining the tank I have about 80 or so gallons of red #2 with anti gel. What to do? I've got one 55 gallon barrel full and every other small container I have. Still getting some out of the tank. :(

    4G/5G Hotspot

I currently have an unlocked Netgear MR1100 hotspot for my internet though T Mobile (via Consumer Cellular). This is 3G/4G capable and will be obsolete at the end of the year. So I need a good unlocked 4g/5G hotspot with an Ethernet out. I could use a MiFi type device and as I have a WiFi...

    Blow out a well

My well has a supply problem with any large demand. It's not water level. 60 years old. I assume it needs blown out. Blowing out a well as I understand it you pump air down and then suddenly release it spew all the crap out and pushing the aggregate away from the point, is this correct? So I...
