This weekend I did a triple drain/refill on our 2002 Honda Accord (3.0 V6, 4spd auto), which has never impressed me with its shift quality. I used AMSOIL ATF and took it for a good test drive this afternoon. All I can say is wow, this thing shifts better than it did when new.

Your 4R70W will love AMSOIL ATF, I have it in my Grand Marquis and the shifts are awesome.

Sometimes it seems to shift early, other times late. Some shifts are slightly jerky, others not. Perhaps it is just the nature of the beast.

I wouldn't worry about the bearings too much, if the oil didn't visually show any contamination and the engine was running fine you should be alright once the leak is fixed. I have had several vehicles end up with coolant in the oil that were repaired and put back into service for many years.

AMSOIL 0w20 is a great product, I run it year round in our Lincoln Navigator with the 5.4.
