    How many Varieties of Grease.

It would be unusual to find an application on farm equipment that exceeds 250 degrees. Processor and blower bearings are a tough application, hot or not. We had excellent luck with the 880 in the kernel processor bearings on a JD 6910. Personally I think the water/acid from the corn juice is...

    Any 5W50 users - ?

I tried Castrol Syntec 5w50 once in my Camaro, which normally runs 20w50 due to the high oil temps it sees at the race track. I noticed reduced oil pressure and a dramatic increase in oil consumption so I switched back. The oil consumption may have leveled off if I had stuck with it longer, but...

    M1 0w-20/0w-30 too thin? Maybe

I agree that the 4.6 is not prone for piston slap. I have owned three ex-police crown vics, a 97, 98, and 99 with 140k, 230k, and 80k respectively. All of the engines were silent on startup, no tensioner noise or piston slap, and none of them used any oil. I currently own a 2001 Grand Marquis...

We all know short hops wreck a car.........

My fiancee used to have a 1.5 mile commute with her Honda Accord (3.0 V6), the oil was always nasty and loaded with fuel. By 3,000 miles, the oil was definitely shot. Since then we've moved and now have a commute that is 17 miles each way on 55mph two-lane roads, the Honda runs great and does...

    High Mileage Oil

My brother has about 4k on Pennzoil High Mileage 5w30 in his Lincoln Mark VIII, I recently noticed it no longer puffs blue smoke upon startup after being parked for a few days. I'm guessing the seal conditioners helped stop the valve stem seals from seeping. Overall it seems to be a good oil.

86 Buick Estate Wagon with the Olds 307 - best oil

My grandfather had two mid 80's Caddys with 307's that had to have the camshaft replaced. I remember the dealership mechanic commenting that the oldsmobile 307's seemed to have a lot of problems with the camshaft lobes going flat. Based on that, an affordable HDEO of the proper viscosity might...

    MISSING MOBIL 1

Sounds like a good reason to try Schaeffers or Amsoil, just pick up on the phone and a few days later it is on your doorstep...no driving/searching involved.

    Cummins automatic flush/level thing

Ford's 4R70W does the same thing, I have drained the pan and converter on several crown vics and refilled/checked using the shift through the gears against the brake method. Drive it a few blocks and recheck...barely on the stick.

Shaeffer's 221 moly ultra as wheel bearing grease?

Should be fine, if in doubt go to this page http://www.schaefferoil.com/msds.html and click on the link for their home office, they should be happy to answer your questions. The 238 grease isn't recommended for wheel bearings because it is so tacky, but the 221 technical data sheet has no such...

Drained '02 Accord and Refilled with AMSOIL

I had flushed it with a case of Valvoline fluid (I think it was maxlife, regardless it said Z-1 on the bottle) about two years ago when it hit 50k. That made a slight improvement but I still thought the shifts were rather rough. The car now has 65k and the fluid looked good. I may drive it for a...

Drained '02 Accord and Refilled with AMSOIL

This weekend I did a triple drain/refill on our 2002 Honda Accord (3.0 V6, 4spd auto), which has never impressed me with its shift quality. I used AMSOIL ATF and took it for a good test drive this afternoon. All I can say is wow, this thing shifts better than it did when new.

Synthetic ATF for 96 Mustang GT

Your 4R70W will love AMSOIL ATF, I have it in my Grand Marquis and the shifts are awesome.

'02 Accord 4AT RLI ATF 3480 OCI 96254 miles on car

Sometimes it seems to shift early, other times late. Some shifts are slightly jerky, others not. Perhaps it is just the nature of the beast.

'02 Accord 4AT RLI ATF 3480 OCI 96254 miles on car

Considering the issues Honda has had with that transmission and the small ATF capacity, changing it every 3k isn't terrible. You can only drain ~3.2 quarts of ATF from the transmission at one time, I think the total capacity is just over 7 quarts. My g/f has an '02 Accord that started shifting...

Engine sludged running Mobil-1 since new!

I wouldn't worry about the bearings too much, if the oil didn't visually show any contamination and the engine was running fine you should be alright once the leak is fixed. I have had several vehicles end up with coolant in the oil that were repaired and put back into service for many years.
