Yes this is for my 2002 Ford Diesel.

I guess I would be more concerned what oil they used than the filter type although both are important. Have you looked in the owners manual to see what filter and oil they call out for use? Griz95

I never paid too much attention to EOT before. I was mainly watching transmission temps, boost and pyrometer temps. They were all okay. I guess I'll switched to a 5W-40 oil and see what temps it'll run. If nothing else just for comparison. Thanks everyone for your inputs. Griz95

I am using Rotella 10W-30 and noticed my engine oil temps are running around 220-223 degrees while towing up mountain passes with outside temps around 85 degrees. Is this normal or am I running too hot? Griz95

I've since lots of UOA here where lead is in the single digits when other oils are used but when Schaeffer's oil is used it will climb to the double digits. This happened to me and I switched oils. Whether it is normal or not I didn't feel comfortable using it. That is not to say Schaeffer's...

When all else fails read your owners manual. Ford recommends either 15W-40 or 10W-30 depending on your outside temperatures. A lot of folks here are switching to 10W-30 their PSD's. There is nothing wrong with running 5W-40 although it isn't cheap and to get the most bang for the buck you need...
