My 2018 cx-5 ticks only on a cold/dry start . Once it's warmed up it stops. It's been this way since new . But I also noticed some brands of oils really quieted this down . ( same weight ) . Amsoils SS was super quiet , and castrol (gold bottle) . Also very quiet , oem oil and Castrol edge...

I saw a video that mentioned that the 3.3l inline 6, if you ever have a timing chain seal leak or need the timing chain replaced ..the entire motor has to come out . As the timing chain faces the rear of the engine bay . . Just saying.

In my 2018 cx-5 owners manual, I was shocked to see Mazda recommends Castrol if you are unable to get their oil .. you can see this also in their ONLINE 2018 cx-5 owners manual .

For what it's worth , I know this is a very old thread.

I can't see why Moly would ever be an issue in this type of engine because the oil is not shared with the transmission.

Now i can only speak from what i own. and i own both the camry and accord. camry 2007 4cyl accord 2005 v6 Ex-l would i buy these models & years again. NO WAY IN [censored]! both have been maintenance hogs. the toyota big time! both cars have 73k-77k miles. had i known about the honda...

Ive used amsoil 20w50 in my 1731cc Vtwin with a shared sump. I ended up following the recommendation of OEM and went Amsoil 10w40. I find on a cold "dry" start the 10w40 seems to quiet everything down just a tiny bit faster. btw my motor has a built in oil cooler.

I use Rotella T6 5w40 in my 2008 Victory vision. im on my 2nd oci using this oil and so far its been great! and way cheaper than those MC oils.

Availability at local store and price (walmart)

Wasnt there a article that showed the true differnce in fuel economy difference of w20 vs w30 was something like 0.8% difference? based on two of the same branded oils. Also wasnt there some engines out there that needed the w20 for their valve train?

i just went to Rotella t6 5w40 as well in my Victory Vision (1731cc-6speed) and i only have around 600 miles on it in a few days since changing the oil, but so far the tranmission really likes the Rotella. the oil i was using before hand has been mobil1 motorcycle oil 10w40 and amsoil 10w40...

im running that oil and rotella t6 5w40 in my victory engine and so far in 600 miles the tranmission loves both of those oils.

not this oil change but last. i went to try mobil1 mc oil and i seen advanced autoparts had it on sale for $7.99 a qt! for the exact same product the motorcycle shop wanted $16.99 !!! i told them you guy are crazy.. $17 a qt for mobil1. advance up the street has it for (2) qts for $15.98. lol...

that is a very nice bike you have there. i have a question about it. how did the insurance rates changing going from a VTX to that? also how is the riding position on like a 100+ mile day?

i was wondering about heads that require 2 plugs per cylinder. whats the advantage if all it takes is ONE spark to light the fire? im not saying there is NO advatage. im asking why design a head for 2 plug per cyl?

Are there really any bad oils out there in this day and age? isnt there just better and best?

when i do my motorcycle oil changes i use amsoil and i let each Quart sit for a while. when i do a motorcycle oil change im never in a hurry so i just wait and get every drop i can ($$$) out of it.

i notice hondas do that 8000 oci. i wish my victory had a longer oci. its only 2500 miles. I dont mind changing the oil on my motorcycle, i kinda enjoy it to be honest. but it would be nice if i wasnt Forced to change it and show receipts of doing so in order to keep the extended warranty (read...
