BMW alignment - how much does it cost?

Probably they're those bolts that require x ft-lbs + x° torque. Same on my Audi when getting alignment. Off the top of my head I can't recall which bolts they were, but I've come across them.

How do I wash my engine compartment safely?

All commercial car wash places must (at least here) have an oil/water separator and coalescing and skimming systems to address environmental concerns. My local car wash has an "Engine Cleaner" option. It's an ultra-low pressure setting and dispenses an engine degreaser. Works fine. Washing your...

    Microscope grease

Dampening grease is certainly the proper lube. Its viscosity must match the required or intended amount of dampening. I have never heard of Carl Zeiss watchmaker oil. Professional watchmakers and the watch manufacturers themselves use mostly Moebius watch oils. Since there were two Zeiss...

    healthy foods (mainly cottage cheese)

It's mostly an age and a rank-in-food-chain issue. Tuna are up pretty high in the food chain. They are bigger and older fish, and they eat older and bigger fish. The bigger and older a fish, the more it's loaded with nasties. Small fish like sardines don't live long enough to accumulate a lot of...

    BMW 135i oil issue

For comparison, one of the valves of my regular FI Audi V6 12 valve engine at 185k miles: I use often, but not always a bottle of fuel system cleaner before an oil change. I don't think I've added any in over 10k miles.
