Why do people use the rear brake?

I see a lot of riders, mainly the cruiser crowd, use the rear brake as their main brake. I sometimes watch bike crash YouTube videos and see the same, people using the rear brake and not grabbing the front. Where is this coming from? Being afraid of flipping the bike over the handlebars? Being...

Dirty US roads with sharp objects

Seriously not sure if it’s my luck or US roads are littered with sharp garbage, but ever since I moved to US I regularly get tire punctures. It was a very rare occurrence in Canada for me. This is what I pulled out of my front tire yesterday. How often do you get punctures?

Can oil mixed with coolant turn black?

Today I found out the overflow coolant bottle is full of oil on my BMW motorcycle. Given how that bottle looks like, with no markings what so ever and that the actual oil fill cap is under the seat, I'm not surprised some knucklehead topped it off. But what stumped me was how black the oil was...

    BMW K1200s/1300s owners

Any K1200/1300s owners here? I recently got a 2005 K1200S and I must say these are wonderful machines. Lots of low end torque and a pretty decent top end. Reading up on them they have their quirks but overall they seem to hold up pretty well and are reliable. Mine has 41k miles and runs very...

Final drive gear oil change, did I wait too long?

Decided to replace the final drive gear oil on my Honda Valkyrie. The bike has almost 25k miles and apparently the final drive was serviced just before I bought it at 9k miles. This is my first drive shaft bike so I don’t know if this looks normal or not. Honda calls for 24k mile change...

Hemi oil weight, is it really that sensitive?

Came across this YouTube short for a Ram 1500 with a Hemi that came in for a check engine light and the code is for “Incorrect engine oil type”. Are these things really that sensitive to the oil weight? Or are people putting in thick oil additives to quiet down the ticking? I can’t imagine...

    What was your shortest employment?

Mine was one week. It was a summer job back when I was in high school. The place was making all sorts of candles. Scented, not scented, various shapes etc. The various smells were quite nauseating when you walked in. My job was to melt the wax, mix in the color, the scent and get it all ready...

Silver color quick wash and rinse, no drying

Metallic silver must be one of, if not the easiest colors to maintain. We had some nice wether yesterday and I gave the van a quick wash and rinse and let it air dry. Love this color. Not only easy to keep looking clean, but also invisible to cops 😉

    Driving though deep water

I never had to drive though more than 6-8 inches of water. Deeper than that I would turn around and find another way. Looking at this video, a lot of people people don't realize it can cost them thousands in engine repairs.

    Poor Chrysler water pump life

I'm not sure how it is with other Chrysler/Stellantis products, but the water pump on my 2015 Grand caravan was shot at 90k miles, the water pump bearing to be exact. It was not leaking from the weep hole yet and it looked pristine inside. I have a trip to Canada that's coming up so I decided to...

Boy do I miss the center stand

I had to change the rear tire on my Valkyrie Interstate as it was punctured and man what an ordeal it is to get the rear lifted up. I had to make this adapter out of some lumber I had lying around and use my jack stand to support the bike. Why did Honda not include the center stand on this bike...

    Chrysler Transmission reset

He goes over the actual procedure at 2:50 mark. Came across this procedure for resetting Chrysler Pacifica 9 speed transmission, but I tried it and it also worked on my 62TE tranny in my Grand Caravan. I noticed recently the shifts were getting a bit harsh in some situations, especially once...

    One good looking serpentine belt

Decided to change the serpentine belt, idler and tensioner pulleys as I started to hear a bit if chirping during morning starts. The car has 90k miles and the belt is original. I don't think the belt was slipping, the noises were from the pulleys as they were very loose and there was visible...

2015 Grand Caravan spark plugs @86k miles

Pulled them while changing the rocker arms. They look terrible, but I never had any misfire or a rough running engine. They are very oily, and the intake and the PCV tube was oily as well. Hopefully the new PCV will limit the oil ingestion.

    Pentastar rocker replacement troubles

Want to share my saga in replacing the rockers on my 2015 Grand Caravan, so that others may avoid making the same mistake. Basically, I wasn’t aware that third gen pentastars have a different rocker arm profile. I ordered my parts from eBay, the seller claimed they were OEM and were the latest...

5w30 didn’t save me from the lifter tick

My 2015 Dodge Caravan has developed the dreaded lifter tick. I am at around 86k miles and it can be heard during a hot idle. I’ve used various 5w30 oils, ranging from dino to synthetic right from about 600 miles when I dumped the factory fill. When it comes to part defects, oil type and...

BMW M Track Day - M cars are impressive

Got a chance to take out M3 and M4 cars for some laps around the Circuit of the Americas. Besides the hideously ugly, in my opinion, front grill, these machines are very impressive and capable. Got the M4 on the long straight to over 150mph, AC at full blast, the oil never went over 210F...

Here is why I wouldn't buy a new "budget" bike.

I'm not going to imbed the video because the guy swears, the link to it is at the bottom. I will show some screenshots. This is a 2019 Kawasaki Z900 that this guy rides pretty much year round in England somewhere. Just look at the corrosion on some of the fasteners, brackets and brake lines...

    2020 MacBook Pro screen issue

I need some input from the Apple experts here. My daughter's 2020 13 inch M1 macbook pro developed a issue pictured below. it actually flickers. Restarted it in recovery and the bar is still there. I don't see any evidence of this machine being dropped, the screen over-extended or fluids being...

How aggressive is the Start/Stop in your vehicle?

I just had two rental vehicles in Europe with very aggressive start/stop tech that actually impaired my driving. Both vehicles were practically new. The first one was a Fiat Tipo 5spd with around 16k miles on it. I put around 450 miles on it and during that time it somehow failed to restart...
