    Daughter's trip to JiffyLube

Not sure what’s the issue here. Certainly it is not with Jiffy Lube, at least not in OPs case. What’s the msrp of the Telluride? Must be around $50k. I don’t see how a $100 oil change on such a vehicle is considered overpriced.

    JASO Wet Clutch Additive?

Exactly, these are pretty much “packages” for blenders to meet certain requirements or test, such as the JASO test. These are not a single additive that one can identify and purchase separately to be added to an oil and “convert” it to meet the JASO spec.

    Apocalypse movies

I watched Leave the world behind this weekend. It’s terrible. It pushes the idea that everything can be “hacked”. And of course the white male is portrayed as an incompetent idiot.

    JASO Wet Clutch Additive?

I feel like we’re being trolled at this point. If it bothers OP so much, there are plenty of cheap oils that are JASO certified. But instead he wants to test the current oil. Yeah, makes total sense 🤪

    BMW final drive boot replacement

It’s an easy job, but the boot is quite pricey. I paid around $70 from an eBay vendor, but they go for over a $100 from other online stores. Mine was cracker, I presume from the old age as the rubber looks weathered and dry. Surprisingly the driveshaft and the splines look good, no rust and...

Reading stuck 75k NGK Iridium plugs in 3.0 V6 Honda.

If they recommend adding a lubricant to the spark plug and the user ends up stripping the threads in the cylinder head because he didn’t reduce the torque, I can see them blaming the spark plug manufacturer.

Reading stuck 75k NGK Iridium plugs in 3.0 V6 Honda.

Thanks for posting. You did well in recognizing there was a problem and took your time with the removal. This simple maintenance could’ve turned into an expensive repair. And no matter how many of stuck plugs, or very difficult to remove stories we have here, there is always a group that...

    New Dacia Duster

I'm overcome with joy On a serious note though, these two wire bands look to be squeezing the tube a little too much. At least that's how it looks to me.

    Cloud seeding.

+1 And if large turbofan aircraft are used, can the seeding be confused with contrails?

    Cloud seeding.

I thought it was a mystery. Those are some very specific details for a mystery 🤔

Why do people use the rear brake?

That lesson is very much valid even with ABS. If your habit is to use the rear brake first, in an emergency that’s what you will do and forget to use the front. You will be only using about 20% of your available braking power, probably more like 10%.

    Cloud seeding.

oh wait, you somehow think that a turbofan/turbojet aircraft = a commercial airliner. Who mentioned commercial airliners here?

    Cloud seeding.

Turbojet or turbofan? Outside of fighter jets I don’t think turbojet engines are used. But why wouldn’t they used large turbofan aircraft? If you need a large area seeded, it would only make sense.

    Cloud seeding.

Why wouldn’t they? Is it only relegated to certain aircraft type? As far is it being “mysterious” well here is a whole official page from Texas gov page about it and what they do. https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/weather/summary.htm

    Cloud seeding.

Is there a difference in the trail that cloud seeding leaves behind vs normal jet engine moisture, that a person observing from the ground could tell?

"Ethanol Free" Fuel, May Not Be

I see that the e10 boogyman is alive and well. One would think that after over 30 years of having ethanol gas, manufacturers would use appropriate materials. Or maybe they do, but people are stubborn and always like to blame something. 🤔 Personally I never had issues with e10 that were not...

Early Oil Change on New VW EA888?

I’m in the dump it early and drive aggressively crowd. I also change the ATF before 20k miles. I don’t see how getting rid of the manufacturing and break-in contaminants early is not a positive. Also, most motorcycle manufacturers I’m aware of, even the most pedestrian and not highly stressed...

Why do people use the rear brake?

I see a lot of riders, mainly the cruiser crowd, use the rear brake as their main brake. I sometimes watch bike crash YouTube videos and see the same, people using the rear brake and not grabbing the front. Where is this coming from? Being afraid of flipping the bike over the handlebars? Being...

Finally scratched my watch itch this morning

Yeah, then can you explain the existence of “smart” watches?
