    transmission pan drain plug

My truck has a C6 transmission. It's an 86 so I'm not looking to put a whole lot of $ into it. Replacing the pan with one that already has a plug will probably cost more than I want to put into this truck. I don't have a welder or drill press but was hoping I could use a regular drill and...

    transmission pan drain plug

I'm considering purchasing a B&M drain plug kit for my F-150's transmission pan. I'm a little concerned about messing up my pan by drilling a hole in it. Does anyone who has installed one of these plugs have any advice they would like to share? Are there better options available? Thanks in advance.

    chainsaw won't start

I went to the shop to get a new key only to be told that the key is part of the flywheel. In order to fix the problem, I'm going to need a whole new flywheel, which had to be ordered. It's going to cost a little more to fix than I had hoped but at least re-assembly will be straight-forward. I...

    chainsaw won't start

I pulled the flywheel off last night. Sure enough, the key was sheared clean off. I'm going to get a new key and try to fix it this weekend. Will the timing be off if I don't mount the flywheel on the shaft in the exact position that it was on there originally? I would hate to put it all back...

    chainsaw won't start

I did use an air compressor to thoroughly blow out the remnants of the Sea Foam. I'm thinking that you guys are right and I need to remove my flywheel to see what's going on underneath. If there's anything I need to watch out for when doing this, please let me know. Thanks!

    chainsaw won't start

One more thing to add... My flywheel nut came loose to the point where the piston no longer moved when I pulled the starter rope. I tightened up the flywheel nut so that the piston is pumping again but it still won't start. Could I have messed up the flywheel key when I tightened up the nut?

    chainsaw won't start

I cleaned the old plug and even tried a new plug. It didn't make a difference. I'm using new gas and have cleaned out the air filters. How can I verify whether or not I'm getting fuel?

    chainsaw won't start

I've got an 18" Homelite that was running a little rough the last time I used it so I dumped some SeaFoam down the spark plug hole. I fear I may have used too much SeaFoam because it ran out the exhaust port. I let it sit for a few days to dry out but it still won't start. I have verified that...

    GM p/s fluid choices

I had the exact same problem as tpitcher with Synpower in my '02 Silverado. GM Cold Climate p/s fluid fixed the problem for me.

Need advice for Silverado transmission pan removal

Thanks for all the advice. It's definitely the deep pan and it is a 4wd if that makes a difference. I broke a cheap little plastic ratchet last night trying to get the Torx head bolts out. It was the only thing I had that would fit up in there. I'll have to get something more heavy duty yet...

Need advice for Silverado transmission pan removal

Mike, I wonder if the exhaust pipe has to come off to facilitate the removal of the shift cable bracket? There's about 2.5" of clearance between the pan and pipe which you would think would be enough room to get the pan out? The pan is indented by the pipe, which should help. The bracket is...

Need advice for Silverado transmission pan removal

I'm about to drop the transmission pan in my '02 Silverado so I can change the filter. Can anyone who has done this clue me in as to how to remove the shift cable bracket? I can't drop the pan until the bracket has been removed because it's in the way.

    PF61 instead of a PF46

The top of the filter is the dome end, that's correct. I've considered other brands, but prefer to stick with OEM, whenever possible. I also think that AC Delco filters are a bargain at $3.50 a piece. I never considered the additional mess I'm going to have when changing a filter without an...

    PF61 instead of a PF46

My vehicle does have a vertical filter mount so the top of the filter faces the ground. The filter retains oil so it's a mess when I change it. Since it does retain oil, I'm thinking the PF61's lack of an ADBV shouldn't be an issue. I'm wondering if the lack of an ADBV and different filter size...

    PF61 instead of a PF46

I'm considering using an AC Delco PF61 instead of a PF46 for my '02 Silverado's next oil change. I like the extra capacity of the PF61. I know the PF61 doesn't have an ADBV like the PF46, but that shouldn't matter since the filter is on the bottom of the engine, right? Is there any reason that I...

    Auto-RX and a Ford 302

I've stuck with regular Havoline 10w30. I've changed my PCV, crankcase cap, catalytic converter, and EGR valve. My truck was severely neglected before I got it and I fear that it's just beyond help. When I give it gas, I get RPM's, but it takes forever to get up to speed. I need to have some...

    Auto-RX and a Ford 302

I did two Auto-RX treatments on my '86 F-150 302 last year. It had 160,000 miles on it. It also had a rear main seal leak and major blow-by. The Auto-RX helped but did not entirely fix the seal leak. I've still got blow-by.

    '02 Silverado power steering whine

I finally received my GM "cold-climate p/s fluid" 12345867 and put it in my Silverado over the weekend. I noticed that it says on the bottle that it's semi-synthetic, not full-synthetic, as I had hoped. I disconnected the return line to the reservoir and did another full flush. I couldn't...

    '02 Silverado power steering whine

Since finding Royal Purple has been a royal pain, I'm going to take Mike's advice, and try some GM 12345867. I know that GM referring to something as "cold weather fluid" is their way of saying synthetic, so I trust that it's good stuff. It ought to be for what they charge for it! I'll post...
