Measuring battery voltage immediately after charging gives a misleading, artificially high voltage reading, due to surface charge. Wait at least 12 hours before measuring volts.

When using a manual charger, you should monitor voltage, current, and battery temperature. Stop charging at 0.5A, or higher if the battery temperature has risen more than 5degF. Charging voltage should not exceed 14.4V (at battery temp of 77F). Or buy a modern automatic charger.

I own 2 Echos, curved and straight, with identical engines. I use the curved one in the cramped areas of my yard and for lawn edging, and I use the straight one in the more open areas. The straight shaft makes noticeably more torque at the head than the curved shaft.

The CTEK PRO25S ($565 ! ) looks very similar to the upcoming Odyssey 25A charger. Don't see a cooling fan. The temperature sensor is in the battery clamp. I would expect the Odyssey version to have a unique charging algorithm optimized for TPPL batteries. At the very least, charging at 14.7V...
