Any cheap / free ideas to cool a garage?

Hi. I don’t know if it’s an option for you, but do a search on “earth air tunnel”. I found it very interesting, but it would require some effort to install, but if you have time & equipment it could be a cheap option. For everyone else, please don’t shoot the messenger, ok A factory I worked...

    Screw In Tire - Arg!

I was very lucky just a week ago 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I always pick up screws and rivet sticks that could cause punctures for others - part of my good-deed-a-day penchant.

New conti tires and a new noise?

Hi. I recently replaced 4 new with same as previous based on excellent wear, mileage etc. With old ones had a faint noise and I thought it was due to old tired, new ones more noises appeared, had it back to te shop, they rebalanced them and showed me they aren’t out-of-round. Further testing...

Oil consumption After Premium Blue Restore

@fbdewar - where did you plumb the catch can to on the engine? It might be that you don’t have enough vacuum for turbo oil drain hack and some oil is sucked through the turbo rings and thus the oil losses you experienced, I reverted back from catch can to (new) PCV on my TGDI and found the...

    Coolant Question

A quick example of using the right coolant… A fleet of Euro 5 Volvo’s uses Volvo VCS coolant. VCS coolant used in a Euro 6 Volvo damaged radiator hoses because these hoses are (under correction) silicon based. Euro 5 models have rubber hoses. A Euro 6 Volvo engine uses Volvo VCS2 coolant...

Could differences in viscosity (in same spec ATF) cause fluid noise or a humming noise in transmission after oil change?

Update on this: After flushing 12 liters using genuine Toyota WS it’s all good!

Could differences in viscosity (in same spec ATF) cause fluid noise or a humming noise in transmission after oil change?

It might be OK, best to evaluate before worrying. I had a vibration and a “whooo” sound from mine. I am on my 3rd OCI now, in the 2nd OCI cycle I had Penrite synthetic in mine for about 4 years 50 K km and it was fine. Looking at the kinematic viscosities, the Total must have been just a tad...

anyone running Toyota T-IV fluid in a tranny rated for Toyota WS?

Dude don’t do it!!! Search my posts - just went though this - used a WS spec oil from a different, highly trusted, brand that has a higher kinetic viscosity and it had an adverse effect. It’s too thick for the pump! I flushed with 12 liter Toyota WS and solved it. Stick with OEM. As someone...

Could differences in viscosity (in same spec ATF) cause fluid noise or a humming noise in transmission after oil change?

Thanks for letting me know, happy it works for you, I see Total recommended stickers on inside of windscreens on Kia in Australia 👌🏻👌🏻

    The problems with GDI

I did this on a Tiguan 2.0T engine while it was out for tranny change. Possible to do while in car with intake removed. Heaps of gunk removed from top of valves this way.

Could differences in viscosity (in same spec ATF) cause fluid noise or a humming noise in transmission after oil change?

Thanks for all the advice. An update… I replaced 8 liters of oil with Toyota WS oil and the noise is 90% gone! I have ordered 8 more liters and will continue to drain & fill till it’s diluted enough to be silent again. All functions of the transmission is good, no issues. To me it proves...

    2016 Tiguan burning oil

Hi. I recently bought a 2 liter TSI Tiguan and figured out a few things: 1. Mine had very fine mist on the tailgate above the exhaust - it rubs off easily and you would think it's fuel but it is actually oil that got very fine once it went through the turbo. 2. A line of engine oil was visible...

Could differences in viscosity (in same spec ATF) cause fluid noise or a humming noise in transmission after oil change?

Hi All I did the 2nd change of ATF in my 05 Toyota Prado and this time round I have a humm - it's a "whooo" sound coming from the transmission. I did a flush and replaced 8 liters of ATF, drove round the block and it was all good. The sound started after about 15 minutes into a long drive. I...
