My '97 GPGT had 308,000 miles on it,all on Havoline 10W30, when I did the upper and lower intake gasket job. Mine looked great and now has 352,000 miles on it and it still runs great, gets 25-28 mpg on the road, and uses no appreciable amount of oil.
I've used nothing but Havoline 10W30 in my '97 Grand Prix and it has 345,000 miles on it now and still doesn't even use a quart between changes of 5000 miles. Good enough for me.

For the first 100,000 miles I used AC Delco filters, but for the last 230,000 miles, I've been using a regular Fram every 5000 miles. Never had a problem and frequent oil analyses between the two show no difference. Old car just keeps on running.
I have all the hype-marketing #@$%!, but I love the Havoline oil. I don't think they will screw it up and I'll continue to use it. I have 322,000 miles on my GP and it still runs great. Every vehicle that I've owned and used Havoline in has never had an oil related problem.
Wow. 70,000 miles. I don't have anything to compare that too. I didn't have to take the top off mine until 308K. Show us again in maybe 235,000 more miles for a valid comparison.
I don't have an oil pressure gauge. I changed the waterpump about two years ago and that was the second waterpump. The first one was replaced at 126,000 miles but it wasn't leaking yet.
Maybe this picture will answer your question.
It is of my '97 Grand Prix that I had to do an intake gasket job on. Over 308,000 miles on regular Havoline 10W30. Intake job was a success and back on the road. Valve area looks good to me. You be the judge.
I recently had to do an intake job on my Grand Prix GT. It has over 308,000 miles on it and I have used Havoline exclusively. Took a few pics during the job. I also replaced the valve cover gaskets. Both sides look the same. I still change oil every 5000 miles and do not add any between changes...
The copper levels on my 2001 Duramax dropped from 20 at 15,000 miles down to 3 at 43,000. My moly level was 275 at 43,000 using Delo with a 4000 mile oci. I've only used Delo since new.
