Am in the final stages of replacing blown head gaskets & would like to know a good product & proceedure for removing the coolant & water from the oil reservoir. Am thinking there is a product to reduce moisture in oil that can be run as a rinse before final oil fill? Thank-you
Want to drain & flush the Dex-cool from my 99 LS1's radiator. Am getting some sludge in the overflow. What is a good safe product to use for the flush & what is a good coolant to safely replace the Dex-cool with? Thank-you.
Am on the rinse stage in two cars. Both are using 10w30 dino ILSAC GF-3 rated oils. Over all engine noise & lifter noise have definately increased since beginning the rinse. Should I thicken up the mix w/ a quart of thicker dino oil in each or not worry about it? Secondly, I saw some GF-4 rated...
As stated above, there was cleaning done by your method. Who knows how much. My post was about if one chooses MMO for top end cleaning, a better method is over extended periods via an inverse oiler. IMHO, an inverse oiler is the best method for the application of MMO. You can use the pull the...
It's a waist because dumping 8 oz. of MMO into the intake over say a ten minute period will clean far less than administering the MMO through the intake for the period of time it takes to drive 500 miles or so. This is what is meant by adding the MMO via an inverse oiler. I generally use around...
8 oz. in that short a time is a lot. More a waiste of MMO than anything. The smoke was from the oil & the removed carbon. As you stated, it had a similar effect to Seafoam. Those of us adding MMO through the intake are doing it via an inverse oiler slowly & continuosly. Since installing the...
By-pass filters are fine & have their place. I simply preffer large spin on filters w/ filter magnets & a pre-oiler as another way to care for my engine. From what I've read, most engine wear occurs during start up. If this is true, then a pre-oiler does a better job of protecting the engine...
Please tell me that you were smokin' crack when you wrote this. The second purpose of the PCV line is to allow oil saturated air into the intake for top end lubrication. The removal of lead from gasoline & the wonderful tree hugger EGR system all but require some lubrication up top to offset the...
Not looking for a patsy; thought it would be OK. Just wanted to run it by the board 'cuz there's a lot of experience here. If there were some major issue, hearing about it is better than dealing with a transmission problem.
Thanks for the feedback. Glad to have found a use for the Red Line.
Would like to use up my 5 quarts of Red Line D4 ATF by mixing w/ 7 or so of Amsoil universal ATF during a complete fluid change (torque converter & all) in a GM 4L60E transmission. Both are full synthetic. Anyone see any problems with this?
Thank-you
It's oil. I plugged up my water injection filter thinking adding a few drops to the water reservoir would help lubricate the inside of my supercharger when the water was misting. Duh... I'll never do that again.
MMO does smell good though doesn't it? I use it in two cars applied through inverse...
Ok, my screen name will finally get some use. What??????????
Actually, Marverl Mystery OIL is pancake syrup disquised as an oil product so that only a select few (who know what it really is) can benefit from its' taste. Just kidding.
Yes, it's oil & may be a bit much when used w/ FP unless...
Yes, it was a little high. There's no drip rate to set on mine. Mine is the kind where the oil passes through a drill bit (swirl) shaped screw or blade on the way to the engine (Ampco). Turned it down a bit. Am still very happy w/ how it cleans & lubricates.
I had the same problem finding it until someone on this board mentioned Murray's. Murray's is the only place where I was able to find it. Valvoline couldn't even tell me where to go. They just read to me their list of vendors; unbelievable, huh?
