I have to agree, unless there is 503.01 VW spec 5w-30 then I would be ok using that.
my first car. a 1991 toyota celica. some old rubber plug from a vacuum hose port sucked into the engine, caused the battery brace to come loose from the vibration and make contact with the positive terminal and the roof. On the interstate, by the time I got from 80 to 0, the car had been destroyed.

I would think that the AFL would work fine. If the manual says 5w-30 euro oil is OK I might try it to...
The 30RH shows a spec of +4, the AW4 shows dex/merc.
I say find a universal fluid that meets dexron III and +4 if You can or check the dipstick to see if it says which fluid You need.

I've used TC-W3 in the prius for the last few months. Squeezed a few more mpg, the engine is much smoother when it's kicking on and off.
However, I have noticed that my oil is getting darker than usual before I change it. It's always been slightly darker than honey but this time around it's...

It does, but I'd guess it reset when they took the battery out.
I 2nd the prius suggestion (obviously). The prius was bought simply to save gas, and that it does. If I drive it like I stole it I still average mid 30's mpg. If I an conscious of my driving I'll get mid to upper 50's mpg.
Not to shabby
