Coyote 5.0 just hit 2k miles

In the Ford manual (at least in my 2018 GT, don't know what years this applies to) it states to use 5w20. BUT if you go to the track, switch to 5w30 and when you're done, dump that and go back to 5w20. Ford, at the time, wanted to keep within CAFE, it seems, but thought it best to use a...

2025 4Runner reviewed by Doug DeMuro

I have an 07 V8 which I say Toyota nerfed and soccer-mommed, as far as a 4x4 is concerned. I had to lift it to make it right. This and the last gen got back to what it should have been. I like this new styling, but as someone else has said, I think they should have had a turbo V6 option for...

    2022 Mustang GT Oil Recommendation

I figure if 5w30 is good enough for track days, it's more than good enough for everyday driving and ignore the switching from 5w20 and back on race days. Mobil1 5w30 in the regular flavor in my 5.0 with no issues. It also has the Ford spec, too, if that's a concern.

Starship liftoff planned for Thursday, April 20

I gotta find out when these are launched. The light show here in AZ looks spectacular from pics I've seen from a CA launch. There's also the very rare White Sands NM ones that are cool, too.

The Solar Eclipse & The Path to Totality

I saw this brilliant idea online a few days ago. Worked out pretty good!

    Planning a Vacation...

Long road trip? Rent a new Vette, get a years Nat. Park pass and do a park tour. I did that a few years ago except it was an 18 5.0 Performance Package. Did Zion, Bryce, Glacier, Yellowstone, and Tetons (this one was sort of a drive-by). Took some back roads, too, so I wasn't just doing...

    Toyota teases the 2025 4Runner

I have the 4.7 in my 07, and its crazy to think the turbo 4 banger has more power! BUT, I do wish Toyota would let down their hair and make models that are more on the higher power side like Ford Raptors. I don't think they'd be able to keep them on the showroom floor! I believe one of the...

Watch out, being oblivious will get ya

I've had two very big incidents happen in front of me. One was a very large boat that popped it's hitch and snapped the chain as we were going down an on ramp at night. I could see sparks at first and just thought the chain was dragging and then 4th of July happened underneath it! Oddly...

    Flange or lock nut

Didn't know that.(y) "What about a washer and a lock nut?" Thought about that a while back but forgot, but as I would be getting new hardware, was just thinking one or the other. Hmmm... Can lock nuts benefit from a little loc-tite?

    Flange or lock nut

I've got Bilsteins on the 5.0 and lock nuts were provided for the three locations on top of the shock tower. Stock nuts were flange nuts and you can see there is a lot more contact area to the tower and they might be a tiny bit taller, too (can't remember), ie: more threads. I checked the...

How Old Is Your Lawn Mower(s)?? And How Many Hours Approximately?

I got the mower when I bought the house in 2001. A coworker knew I was looking for one and said there's a used Honda at this Lowes. I went to look at it and it was basically brand new, but dirty. I guess the PO tried to use it on winter rye grass and it didn't cut to his liking. I forget...

    New tool thread

I've been thinking about getting one of these for quite a while, but couldn't justify the price of the big name brands for my simple needs. Basically to take on road trips, the occasional wheel removal and some light work. It'll save a lot of time and energy (and back!). Someone on here...

    New 2024 Toyota Tacoma

I've owned two Toyotas in the last 31 years (in sig). I wish that they would break out of their "safe" thinking and have a section of the company put some more zing into models. Make a Tacoma/Tundra that would compete with the Raptors. A turbo V6 for the Tacoma similar to one would probably...

Discount Tire finally made it here to The American Outback!

Taco Johns! When I lived in Kalispell MT, that used to be one of the hang-out/turn around spots when cruising Main St! This was mid 80s. Cool that DT is in your town.
