    Canadians: Where's the cheapest Mobil 3309 (T-IV)?

    2003 4 Runner review

'04 4Runner Limited here, thought I'd add my experience. 161K Km 4.0L V6 4-Speed Auto I love driving this truck, it's solid and handles well for a SUV, Engine never consumes oil, and tranny still shifts like factory new. It gets driven hard, lots of short trips for business use, and long road...

Don't forget to change your Cabin Air Filter!

We found a nest in the EL's filter after it was stored for 3 months outside. I've also used furnace filters for my T4R, works just fine. One piece at $10 can be cut into 4 perfect cabin filters. Much much cheaper. I change it twice a year and takes about a minute on the T4R.

Saw a mfgr. recommended OCI that blew my mind...

The 1992 Civic I had years ago called for the same 7500 mile/12000 km OCI, with filter changes every other oil change. I don't recall any mention of normal or severe service, it was just the one OCI recommendation.

    Seeking Better Wearing Motorcyle Tires

I have 20,000 km on a set of Bridgestone BT016. Reasonably priced dual compound tire for street/track. Oddly these tires seem to wear evenly front and back, while most other models the front usually last 2 or 3 rears before it needs changing. I'm almost due for new tires, and have my eye on the...

Where to buy CD-2 Oil Additives Y&B bottles Canada

I've seen them at Walmart, didn't give it much thought. Are you looking to do some cleaning or trying to fix a problem?

    Toyota 4runner oil ?

You should be fine with the Rotella T6, there are other T4R 4.0L owners using this oil with great results. You may see a slight increase in fuel consumption. I'm approaching 100K miles on mine and the thicker 30wts seem to run quieter. Running GC 0w30 right now.

    QSUD @ Walmart Canada

Walmart, CT and Parts Source are running oil specials frequently it seems. You'd be crazy to pay full regular price for oil. I still have about 50L worth of various brands in my stash from sales last year. I have some PYB I'll probably never use, picked up a couple jugs at $8.97 last year at...

What my neighbor told me about QS

Many Torontonians where I live don't know the city will actually pickup the oil for free as long as you have between 10 and 50 liters and must be stored in a container originally meant for automotive oil like a drum or used oil bottles/jugs.. Just have to call and setup a time, leave the oil on...

    2004 Tacoma with Toyota Red

There's Toyota TSB indicating red and pink can be mixed without issues. You just wont' be getting the super long life benefits as you would if only pink was in there. my T4R came with pink from the factory, I opted to go with red on the first flush and all future changes since it's cheaper and...

    additive poll

I run maintenance doses of ether MMO or LubeControl in the oil, about 5 ounces every 1K miles or so , just for some extra cleaning. I've noticed the oil gets dirty faster with use of either, so they are scrubbing something in there. Once I run out of LC I likely won't be buying more, MMO is much...

Toyota Dealer uses Castrol instead of Toyota oil

Lots of Toyo dealerships around here use bulk Castrol for the free oil changes as well as oil change specials. If you want the premium stuff you have to ask for it.

    Thicker oil in older engine??

I had a burner years ago, spec'd for 5w30 and switched to 10w40 and it cut the consumption noticeably. It's worth a shot Any one of 10w30, 10w40, 15w40 , whatever you can find the cheapest... perhaps try a high mileage oil like MaxLife, may reduce some of the consumption too. Drain it for...
