Agree with @slo town. Spark plugs are too inexpensive to risk injuring the head. I change them every 20k on the Volvos.

It appears the engine did just fine on the Delvac 1300. I’m wondering if the Amsoil is worth the additional expense?

The Volvos in my signature have mileage of: 243k, 233k, 212k, 115k for ones we will keep. The Mercedes has 151k. With meticulous maintenance and preservation of the bodies I see no reason why they will not outlast us.

Here’s the filter from my 2000 Volvo V70. 5 qts M1 0W40 + 1 qt EC30. 4,000 mile OCI. Obviously there is a lot to clean. The oils are doing a good job.

Like my 1992 Mercedes Benz 300D 2.5 turbo. Stunningly well engineered. Drive it as hard as you want all day long. With the proper fluids and meticulous maintenance it will run a very long time.
