I like these cars. I have a decent amount of experience around them. I have two Tiburons one of which shares the same four cylinder. I have 242k miles and I've been running 5w40 because I just like the added protection and I don't notice any drops in fuel economy.
Motor consumes oil and I...
@OVERKILL okay thanks. I order my oil in bulk for a cheaper price so I wanted to get my mind made up before purchasing.
I've been using this 5w40 Euro oil for the last 9,000mi (3 OCI) and it's been doing fine.
@OVERKILL I made this thread back when I was more active so I should re-mention that my only concern is that the vehicle is Korean; Hyundai Tiburon (2.0L @ 242k). There's no catalytic converters now so there's no concern there.
It's just that this is one of the few oils that offer the coveted...
I was replying to the other guy. I, too, have been informed that they are similar but so far for an oil forum I haven't had any sufficient answers or reasons.
So update to this.
Kept driving the car and the quart of oil lasted on the dipstick until 1900mi after fill-up. Still was a hair above the bottom dot. Considerable improvements noted.
So I really don't want to jynx it. But the car now has 232,213mi.
Meaning it has 1,213mi since the last oil change. In which I did a treatment of BerrymanB12. And it appears the oil is still above halfway on the dipstick... last time the oil was getting too close to the "L" for comfort so I...
I'd say knock yourself out. I personally run 10W in the hot summer months and then use 5W for all the other seasons. Although both weights can work for both temperatures.
Same thing here. Did an oil change 5 miles ago and I've been seeing the specs on the dipstick. (10w40 Mobil1 HM)
Did perform a treatment of BerryMan's B12 before the change. So perhaps it's loose carbon?
I recently picked up a 96 Geo Metro 1.0L 3cyl and the dipstick is underneath the air filtration system. Not the end of the world but it does make it a bit of a hassle to remove/insert the dipstick to check the oil.
Any others?
I've been considering on getting some just for top off oil. Or for my Geo Metro.
Even at $39.99 for 10-qt it's still 3.99/quart.
Didn't know it used to cost $22 tho 🤯
I would just use Lucas.
I saw this video a handful of months back and was honestly pretty fun. Lucas came in clutch for a vehicle with basically no oil pressure.
I only buy OEM filters because they are pretty cheap and I can buy them in bulk.
I ordered a set of 10 from Amazon which were supposed to come with crush washers. When I asked the seller If they could send the washers they just asked for me return all 10 filters (or something). So eventually I...
