Perhaps I have spent too much time trying to convince you that an N55 isn't going to grenade anywhere near 400hp. If a quick Google search couldn't tell you that, I don't know how I thought I could.

Quote N55 was not made with tuning in mind, nor was N54 although it turned out to be good platform for that. B series of engines are specifically created in mind with tuning potential as those are modular engines, which N series was not No? Maybe I don't understand, but I don't see how a...

Do you have the noack and hths for PPE 5w-40? I'm guessing not because you guessed the hths, but it seems odd that shell is so secretive.

Perhaps you're right. I did send Redline a message, and the rep said that, because it is a performance oil, it will run a little bit on the thick side. While it is fine for my application, he said their recommended weight for my engine is the 5w-30, but BMW's choice of thinner 30w's is...

    Recommendation for tuned BMW N55?

I take your point, and I am just a filthy casual so don't expect a good response from me. I took the advice posted here and assumed it's fine based on the manual's allowance of 5w40. However, because it really is on the thicker side of the 40w spectrum, perhaps I will swap it out for RL 5w30 or...

Thanks for the rec, they aren't far from me. I ordered from summit yesterday around 3:30 pm and the oil got to my doorstep before noon today. The gallon jug was $37.70 and the quart bottles were $10.40. Pretty sweet deal considering one day shipping and how much other sellers' redline 5w40 are.

Ended up ordering Redline 5w-40 that Summit Racing has for a pretty decent price. The 1er will have to wait for its Castrol because Walmart won't ship the 1qt bottles and I'm sure as [censored] not going into Walmart right now
