    05 Surburban 1500 - Lifter Tick

Just to update... Most the time it's tick but at times I'd of considered it a knock while I was driving. Never did change the oil after the water pump failure since we basically shut it down. I just didn't think it would get hot enough degrade the oil. Since posting I've gone back to Mobil 1...

    05 Surburban 1500 - Lifter Tick

I've got an 05 Suburban 1500 with the 5.3L we bought with 130K miles and now has 206K miles. Since 130K I've changed the oil with Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 and and Mobil 1 oil filter every 5K. We recently did an oil change with a local shop that used standard bulk 5w30 (not sure what brand)...

    2014 Dodge Ram 2500 New

So, I've had the truck now for right at a month and I've got 5K on the odometer. After looking on forums, and here I'm really leaning towards Rotella T6 for the oil change tomorrow. By the way I"m doing it early a 5k to get the factory fill out. Oil life monitor on the truck still says I have...

    2014 Dodge Ram 2500 New

First time to own a diesel, anything different I should be concerned with as far as oil? 6.7L Cummins and 300 miles on it, the manual says oil change intervals of 15K which seems long for regular oil. Also, states 5w40 or 15w40 which I planned to run 5w40 synthetic Rotella if that's a good...

DI Turbo oil priority? NOACK Volatility or TBN

In the Amsoil test link Mobil 1ESP didn't fair so well on the wear test and in a couple of other wear test I've seen online Mobil 1 doesn't fair so well. Does this seem to be of no concern to most? It was more than 3 times higher than PU. Also, according to the Amsoil test if everyone is...

High Mileage Silverado, is there something better?

What is the benefit of using Mobil 1 0w40 over the 5w30? I'll have to research the Mos2, I've never heard of it. Wonder if the auto stores around here carry it.

Good idea on the Mityvac every 30K on the trans. Honestly just happy it's made it this far, not sure how long the 4L60e will go. I'll just stick with Mobil 1, there's usually an auto store running a special every month for 5 quarts with a filter for right at $30-$33. Just wanted to check and...

High Mileage Silverado, is there something better?

Okay, so it sounds like I just need to stick to Mobil 1 and just extend the OCI out past 5K. The cooling system was flushed and changed somewhere around 120-130K I can't remember exactly. At 170K I finally decided to mityvac out 6 quarts, drive it around for a bit, then dropped the pan...
