    2011 BMW 335d and 2020 Ford F250 6.7 Powerstroke

Having to use workarounds for engineering miscalculations is not fun.

    2011 BMW 335d and 2020 Ford F250 6.7 Powerstroke

Mine is a CP3, the 328d has the CP4.2. I do actually believe that the CP4 issues have been fixed, my 2020 Powerstroke seems troublefree (low mileage), but I know of a lot of 6.7s on the road with 200k plus on the factory pump. Maintenance is key.

That is a proper spec sheet. So I know some people were having chain issues in the M57/N57s, most appear to have been in cars with the OEM OCI (15k miles) and since this is my forever commuter until it explodes I am trying to avoid it. Also, had oil burn off with Rotella (1 quart every 3k miles)...

Not yet, are they on here or are you referring to the BMW specific forums?

    2011 BMW 335d and 2020 Ford F250 6.7 Powerstroke

Don't disagree, ideal car for the commute. Diesel Cayennes are nice, but this car was cheap and its ideal, averaging 38 mpg with plenty of power.

    2011 BMW 335d and 2020 Ford F250 6.7 Powerstroke

Its my daily driver, mostly highway with some city, probably 70/30. Occasional flooring to clear the pipes but mostly steady highway cruising at 70 ish mph. Sees about 120 miles a day 4 times a week plus weekend driving. It has been amazing as a daily.

It was the 5W40 Power. I was surprised at the result, lot of TBN left.

New sample on the 335d. Fixed a boost leak and got rid of the silicone. Had some 300V 5W40 laying around and this stuff is stout. May be worth it.

When to let that car go...

Pretty personal and situational. My old 250k mile E36 328i ran like a top, fun to drive, but it was getting rusty and leaked from the headliner in heavy rain onto the passenger seat. One rainy day, as I was trying to move up the chain at work, the Regional Director asked to go for lunch to...

What Factors Are Swaying EV Adoption in the U.S.?

I do not think that we are anywhere near a proper, working pickup truck that is electric powered. A diesel electric hybrid pickup would be fantastic, but has not been built yet. However, if you own a luxury SUV, the electric ones are much cheaper to run. In the family we had an X5 with the...

Valve noise after latest oil change

Based on the look of that lobe I suspect you will see increased wear on that rocker. Can you keep us updated? Curious to see which one goes first.

"Lower tier " oils you have run...

I have great luck with it on my BMW, get excellent oil analysis results. Far better than the Fuchs and Rotella which burned like a 20 weight. Whatever works for everyone is different! As far as cheapo oils, WalMart is great but the recent bump in price was significant. On older cars you can...

    Mobil 5w20 blend vs motorcraft

My last analysys of the Motorcraft was not fantastic, but it was a gift when I bought my new F250 (6.7 PSD). Second oil change with same stuff, will send it in for analysis soon.

    AGM batteries in a pickup

So I just checked, the battery in my BMW (trunk mounted) is original from 2011...I checked because on really cold sub 20 degree days I notice a slower crank, but that is pretty impressive. Its a 335d so it has the very large AGM, get driven almost daily. Pretty impressed, will probably replace...

Has anyone used Total Seal Gapless piston rings?

I tried them and found no gains over their premium line of rings. They do provide excellent seal, can be a bit hard on the bore if the machining is not perfect.
