I have been using Supertech FS in all my engines for years now, tractors, lawn mowers, pressure washers, motorcycle, and multiple vehicles ranging in mileage from 23k up to 190k with no issues.
I have always done a drain and fill every 30k on my vehicles. Never went to the trouble of trying to do an "at home flush". Makes life a little easier, and still exceeds the manufacturer's maintenance suggestion (at least on the vehicles I have owned).
My daily is a 2000 xj. It has had 5w30 for all of it's 185K miles. Switched to synthetic around 50k, I use SuperTech. If I add a half qt of oil in between my 5,000 mile oil changes, that's a lot.
These engines are pretty happy with any oil you put into them.
This post made my day. For years I have told people that I love changing the oil, and watching the old oil drain. So many people have looked at me like I had 3 heads.
I find it therapeutic just watching it drain.
I never owned 1 vehicle in my 30+ years of driving that experienced "internal engine problems" ever, let alone in less than 15 years. I have owned multiple new and used vehicles over the years, most of the used were 10+ years old to begin with still running stock internals.
I'm curious when this old wives tale will stop being told.
Synthetic will do no harm to that engine. If you do some research in your free time, you will see countless articles written by people other than "Someone I know" that clarifies this is an old school mentality, that had some validity...
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Has had 5w30 it's whole life, changed around 5,000 miles. First 60k used dino oil, since then synthetic. Currently running happily at 160k on the odometer.
So many thoughts, so little time...
It's called gambling for a reason. You're more likely to lose than win.
If people won, casinos wouldn't be so nice. They wouldn't even exist if people won more than they lost.
You're friend will blow through that $250k real quick if he thinks he has it...
Been using Supertech synthetic in all my engine for years without a single issue. I have sent several away for UOA over the years when I first started using Supertech because truth be told I was nervous about using an inexpensive oil. I had previously sworn complete allegiance to M1.
At the...
I had a 1990 Ranger with 290k on the original engine and tranny. I sold it a few years back to a guy who worked in construction. I like to think it is still on the road somewhere.
I have a vehicle that only gets a couple hundred miles a year. I change the oil every 2 to 3 years. Even when I have gone out 3 years, the oil still looks brand new coming out. I have debated using it in my daily driver (Cherokee XJ), just to get a some more use out of it.
