More to report(good news). Althought its hard to believe the oil consumption is about gone. 173k now and its gone from 1qt in 1000mi pre ARX to now 1/8 qt in 1000mi 3000 mi after double ARX treatment. The blue puff in the morning is nearly gone, I guess Arx saved the valve seals although I...

    HELP!! Passat 1.8T Sludgebucket

In my opinion its a bad idea to run a solvent based engine flush or kero through an engine with a turbo. Compromising the film of oil on those Hy-tech (read expensive)turbo bearings is not a good idea. They run up to 10x engine speed and ALWAYS need good lube.Cleaning slow is the way to go...

    Pressure vs flow

Jay you are correct, hydrodynamic film strenght is what supports the metal parts. Pumps create flow NOT pressure. This is created by the resistance to flow. [ March 21, 2005, 09:10 PM: Message edited by: mike142 ]

Double cleaning is over. First as I reported the dipstick is clean like its never been. I didn't pull the valve covers but I'm sure some cleaning went on. Biggest diference I noticed is mileage increase (.5-2mpg) consistently. No doubt better ring seal. Throttle response also slightly better...

    Early Report On Fuel Power

Sorry, but I'm not buying a 17.2 to 29 mpg jump with a bottle of anything. 100-200 miles for a test of anything automotive would be inconclusive in my mind. Do it for 1000 and report back.

Early opinions on my experiement please

How come you only expect 150k from your engine? This should be a no brainer even with so called "cheap" oil. You really mean inexpensive don't you? Wally World oil on a 3k change out I'm sure would get you there. Don't however skimp on the filter. P-one or Wix are 2 that I swear by.

Terrible start-up noise with extreme cold

The tensioner is a good place to look. I've changed many of these on our fleet vechicles at work. Typical GM, Good ideas but low quality.

1/2 way home on a double dose treatment of the ARX and nothing earth shaking to report. I've opened up the filters on a lathe to inspect the pleating and I don't see much more junk than I've seen on a non ARX application. Still too early to form an opinion on the effectiveness of ARX yet.Frank...

    Walmart Oil Selection

This actually happend to me. Went into PeeBoys for a qt of +3ATF 2.09 on the shelf. Rang up 2.19 at the register and when I pointed out the error, this dipstick told me "oh well it rang up 2.19." I'm glad it didn't come up 87.59. Jeeees. As there was a line behind me and I was in a hurry this...

Would love to take pics and post them, but don't yet have that capability. I have noticed already at 900 mi less varnish on the oil stick, good sign I think. Most of my "testing" of things is seat of the pants and objective observation. I'm not expecting any certain result, but will just report...

I found this site about 4 months ago and have enjoyed it so far. This is my first post and am going to document the ARX treatment on my 1999 Dakota. 3.9, excab, auto, 162000 miles. 95% hyway driving,2050 rpm @70 mph. Pretty easy miles I think but yet motor has more slug and crud than I think...
