    0w-40 in 4cyl??

I really couldn't tell you, I'd pass that one on to the other folks on here...

    0w-40 in 4cyl??

I had the 0w-40 in for a short time in my '01 Accord 4cyl. I really didn't notice anything at first, but on the drive to and from work I could definately tell I had lost some horsepower. When I gunned it just wasn't all there. I switched back to Mobil 1 SS 10w30 after about a week and have had...

    0W40 in place of 10W30?

    Nope... ::ducks:: Maverick

    0W40 in place of 10W30?

Again, its just what I noticed while driving it today after the change (and I'm sure we're all in tune to minute changes in our autos while driving - since we are all oil/auto freaks here anyhow :> ). I'm not claiming it's a "better" oil by any means. If it cuts into my gas mileage too much I...

    0W40 in place of 10W30?

Just put in the M1 0W-40 SS today in my '01 Accord. Replaced the M1 SS 5w30 with about 5k, and a lot of hot weather AC driving. I was debating between the M1 10w30 and Chevron/Texaco 5W-40 "synth" (but couldn't find it - still the Equilon SJ stuff locally). I was kind of worried since they...

    0W40 in place of 10W30?

That's what I'm debating/thinking about now as well. I think I've narrowed it down to M1 0w-40 or the Texaco Havoline 5w-40 or 10w30 "synthetic". I've got about 4k on the Mobil 1 5w30 supersyn now and am hoping to see some analysis results before I switch. Maverick

Name brand Oil all Relative anyway?

Well said Spector. Basically we're all a bunch of freaks! But day after day I find myself lurking around here just waiting for more info and new analysis posts... Ack.

    Texaco/Havoline Spec Change?

If I remember correctly, the Chevron Supreme Synthetic specs haven't changed. They are still SJ based. I can't find this stuff in the stores by me. On the other hand - the older Havloline specs I swore were SL, but now the new specs suggest a re-formulation, plus the addition of the 5w-40. The...

    Texaco/Havoline Spec Change?

This is a pretty cool link - much more informative than some of the other motor oil brand sites. http://www.chevron.com/prodserv/baseoils/products.shtml At first glance it still doesn't say whether the Havoline is a PAO oil - but my hunch is they're Group III synthetic. This sounds like an...

    Texaco/Havoline Spec Change?

That's the question of the day. Is this a "true" synthetic or not? According to the MSDS (updated on 06Feb I'm seeing the word "Hydrotreated". That's telling me it's not PAO. But is the MSDS accurate? Anyone care to shed any light on this? The FAQ on Chevron's site pretty much says they're Group...

    Texaco/Havoline Spec Change?

Then that's a great price. The Walmart stores near me aren't that great - especially in automotive. The only oil I have seen in the 5 qt jugs are Quaker State, Pennzoil, and Castrol. I'll have to check out some others a bit farther away I suppose. Thanks for the tip. Maverick

    Texaco/Havoline Spec Change?

The thing that bugs me is that the Chevron and Havoline specs used to be identical. I am thinking that those Chevron specs will be updated soon. I remember another thread mentioning that the Chevron specs were slightly out of date, but those Havoline's are definately new. -Maverick

    Texaco/Havoline Spec Change?

If memory serves me right, I believe the Texaco Havoline Spec sheet has changed. It used to be equal to the Chevron supreme specs, but it seems that the flash point for the Havoline is now much higher for the 10w30, and the TBN went down slightly from before. Specs still look good at first...

    0W40 in place of 10W30?

Just saw Mobil 1 0w-40 "European Car Formula" in Autozone yesterday. Same price as the other Mobil 1 I believe. -Maverick

    Walmart Supertech design change?

This was a Walmart Supertech filter - allegedly made by Champion Labs, same as the STP, Bosch, Deutsch, etc... I'm not sure what the spring actually did/does, but it's not there on the newer black models. Anywho - just wondering if anyone on here has noticed it - maybe they switched to a...
