I run Viscosity's Ambra (New Holland). The 15w-40 smells almost like gear oil, just not quite as pungent. I've been considering switching over both my diesel tractor and diesel ZTR to CJ, as they both were designed to run USLD, and do. Any reason to stay with CI?

Changed the oil in my Kubota today, used Ambra Mastergold 15w40. Nice non-CJ stuff with loads of zinc. Smelled almost like gear oil, not quite as strong. I know, New Holland oil in a Kubota... world's going to end.

What about using it in mower spindles? Would the same reason 229 isn't suitable for auto wheel bearings apply? Curious 'cause I just picked up 20 tubes for the tractor and ZTR.
