Yes what I'm trying to prevent is the bypass valve opening. The better flow through the filter, the less chance it has of opening. I have no idea if it will open while cold, but a filter that provides at least as good a flow rate as the Motorcraft is desired, which when looking at the data isn't...
Looks like the Fram XG3614 (filter for my Maverick) and Fram XG3600 are all interchangeable with the same 12 psi bypass (vs 14.5 on the Motorcraft). So food for thought. Could also use the Motorcraft FL400S as well.
It's a shame things change, I'm more than willing to pay more for a higher end...
OK, interesting that the testing doesn't line up, which does bring into question the data on this test. That being said, I assume all are better than the FL910?
Because I had read/heard that cold flow is where the wear happens.
Because I have a hybrid, it will kick over at say 30 mph or sometimes higher speed and RPMs will climb as you hit the gas. This is only a concern on the first acceleration of the commute but still had me concerned.
Maybe too...
Knowing this, which filters would you recommend? I agree it doesn't have to match test procedure for it to be useful, it seems the filtering capability and cold flow rate are really the most important when it comes to filtration but I'm not well versed in this stuff. Based on that I really like...
Yes you are correct, it should start at 3 and go to 11, however I messed up the scale when adding the graph. That doesn't change the relative value of the information.
Looking at the data, would the Purolator Boss be the best filter? It seems it has great cold flow that combines with excellent...
I have a Ford Maverick, 2.5l. While researching filter quality for it I found this data fascinating and consolidated it off of a Youtube channel called Brand Ranks.
I tried to focus mainly on the most applicable filters measured, as the couple "high end" filters seemed to filter too well and...
I picked some up yesterday at my local Wal-Mart, in NC. You have to look around, I also got some Havoline 10W-30, they showed four in stock but it wasn't even on the shelf. It was up top facing away from the aisle, in the overstock area, further down. Sometimes they get lazy and don't restock it...
I've seen some similar issues with glue on the Motorcraft filters on Youtube. It is a little concerning. What quality filter would you recommend in its place? The MC has a silicone anti flow back seal that most use a downgraded nitrite one.
I personally do not trust Amazon (or Amazon sellers, really) for selling genuine items, oil being one of them. I gladly paid the extra $5 tbh to get from a reputable source. Not worth the worry IMO.
FWIW I paid $30.79 from RockAuto, shipping of course but I needed spark plugs for my wife's...
I did a lot of research before purchasing, and that was one big reason I took the plunge. A little disappointed in the 4k AWD hybrid for 2025 but like the Gen 1 look better. It's the rest of the truck I think will give it issues, especially cosmetic, in the future with the really scratch prone...
