Lower oil pressure mid OCI, PF48

Update: Two weeks' of commuting into the new filter and everything continues to be normal on the oil pressure gauge. Something was apparently amiss in that AC Delco filter and changing it out got pressure back to normal.

Honda J35 Valve adjustment, affect idle quality

Did you end up adjusting the valves? If so, how were they in relation to spec?

Lower oil pressure mid OCI, PF48

I had an issue with zero pressure immediately after an oil change last year. Ended up installing a new OEM sensor to rectify. Everything was normal on the oil pressure front for 7500 miles until I noticed the changes mentioned above this past week. Hopefully the new sensor is still good.

Lower oil pressure mid OCI, PF48

2008 Suburban with 5.3, 161K. Changed oil in November and used AC Delco PF48 filter and Napa 5W-30 full synthetic. Have about 1800 miles on the oil change at this point. Late this week, I noticed somewhat lower oil pressure on the gauge and more fluctuation than usual. Maybe a little slower to...

25K GM fuel pump humming. Is it failing?

Sorry, gotta own this. This is not a fuel pump issue. I worked on pinning it down tonight to confirm it was coming from the tank. When I climbed in the back, I figured out it was in the ceiling, coming from near a little vent in the headliner. It’s apparently part of the climate control...

25K GM fuel pump humming. Is it failing?

Agree, and that’s where I’m at with this one right now. There was minimal sound before. You really had to work to notice it. When this showed up, I looked down at the climate control cluster to see if it was on and the blower cranked up. It is that noticeable. Something is different.

25K GM fuel pump humming. Is it failing?

Bought a new MU1844 GM fuel pump in April 2020 for my 2008 Suburban. Installed that spring and has about 25K miles on it. As of this weekend, it appears to have started making noise. Twice now I've turned the key on but not yet started the vehicle, and I hear what sounds like a climate control...

    Done towing. Disconnect trans cooler?

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate the thoughts. No original cooler if I recall correctly. Just plumbed this one in one weekend after pulling our new trailer for the first time and the tranny went to 215. Decided I’d better invest in a cooler. Again, it worked really, really well. Can’t sing its...

    Done towing. Disconnect trans cooler?

2008 Chevy Suburban 1500, 4L60E. Installed a Tru Cool LPD transmission cooler in 2017 after buying an RV. Worked great. We’ve now sold the RV, which means my original need for the cooler is gone. Temps rarely sniff GM’s stated operating range (around 190 I believe), even in summer. 165 is...

Gabriel ProGuard shocks: 3 failures in 7 months

I purchased them on Amazon. I ordered Bilstein 4600s from Napa around Christmas but ended up getting shipped a torn, re-taped and empty box. (That is a story I'll share another day once some of the subsequent PTSD wears off.) I went OEM after figuring out how hard it is to source Bilsteins...

Gabriel ProGuard shocks: 3 failures in 7 months

Posting to potentially help someone else avoid a bad purchase... Yesterday I installed two new GM OEM rear shocks on a 2008 Suburban 1500. I took off two Gabriel ProGuards that had failed by November but that I've dealt with until I could source two replacements. One of the two I removed was...

OCI/FCI of Many Years But With Low Miles

I had a classic car about 15 years ago. Tried to prolong OCIs because I rarely drove it, used good oil, always got it hot, etc. What always made me change the oil and filter earlier than I had planned is thinking about a filter media (Wix/Napa Gold) sitting wet with oil for a year, two years...

    Suburban rear shock recommendation?

I appreciate the suggestions, btw. Thanks a lot.

    Suburban rear shock recommendation?

154K when one of the originals failed and started leaking. Would have no issues putting those back on, assuming they're of the same quality in 2023 as 2008. Bilsteins are $84 shipped from Napa. GM Genuine appears to be OEM, correct? They're $64 on Rock Auto.

    Suburban rear shock recommendation?

Looking for a rear shock recommendation for a 2008 Suburban 1500, 160K. Mostly used to commute and a few road trips here and there. I do use it on some washboard-y Forest Service roads a few times a year. Little to no towing these days. Replacing some Gabriel ProGuards that were apparently...
