    1986 Ford Taurus 3.0 V6

why run a 5w when you're in florida? and why go synthetic when the engine burns oil. I had a 89 and 95. Solid car except for the 89's tranny. a friend's still driving the old 95, >100K on it. I would run it on 10w30, straight 30, or 15w40. Maybe a qt or two of 20w50 (in a 30w) might slow...

    Would this additive be good?

good as an engine oil add'v. Sure. Looks like it will almost 150 ppm of Mo when diluted.

My Molyslip E Experience: Just don't do it.

I've used molyslip, twice. I was concerned at first, too, but UOA showed that all is fine. I wouldn't worry about the dark color of the oil. Oil is supposed to be black, because that is its natural state; and, the moly does add a dark greenish tan color to the oil, too. Also, I agree with the...

    Napa 15w40 + 1/3 bottle Molyslip / Mrmoly ~5500mi / 1995 Subaru

I think we have a winner!! I'll be using that, or some mix of that (instead of the m1) and the napa 15w40.

    Napa 15w40 + 1/3 bottle Molyslip / Mrmoly ~5500mi / 1995 Subaru

Yes, Napa 15w40 is probably Valvoline. And I was wrong about the 60ppm guess, which is (at least, used to be) the average for the upper end brands. The 15w40 Valv. might be the only Valv oil with any moly in it, and they put a good dose of it. If you search the VOA's I think it was around 90-100...

    Napa 15w40 + 1/3 bottle Molyslip / Mrmoly ~5500mi / 1995 Subaru

The latest sample is on the top most row. The bottom rows, if I remember correctly, refer to the same batch of oil (kendall 10w30+M1 15w50+ makeup oil) taken some thousands of miles apart. The recent reading refers to summer oil, 3 liters Napa 15w40 + 1 liter M1 15w50 + ~1/3 bottle of...

    Mobil1 0w20+0w30 mix. 7000 miles '01 Subaru 2.5L

Maybe it doesn't like the thin weight oils, 0w20!! Don't you think a 5w40 synth or 5w30 could be a better choice? If you ignore the fact that you have harder winter conditions, it would seem the good old 10w30 performed better, by over a factor of 2, for all metals except Cu. [ June 26, 2004...

    Bad News About Pennzoil Long-Life!!!!

Thanks for asking the question, i think it might answer the one i had. So I googled "trialkyldithiocarbamate" and found this posted on some bulletin board. I don't know if it's accurate or not. MoS2, molybdenum disulfide, is the gray powder we're used to seeing[....] MoTDC, molybdenum...

    Bad News About Pennzoil Long-Life!!!!

Too bad about the moly, boron . This is OT, but, just quite recently I noticed that the color of the 15w40 Napa (Valvoline) that I used was quite clear. Does this mean that Napa or valvoline also reformulated? (From previous VOA Valvoline 15w40 was the only Valvoline oil with a considerable...

4850mi on Soup, mostly Kendall (95 Subaru)

This is the second UOA for the Kendall brew in http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=001256#000000 Some things were changed, like I added a little approx 1/2 Qt of 20w50 and approx 3/5 Qt of straight weight HD40 in order to offset the fuel dilution found in the...

    moly slip "e"

I should be doing another UOA of this stuff soon (finally changed the oil, will send out sample soon). If there's any additive that might work it would be moly, imo. Corrosion, the cat, and price are arguments against using it, but I think with a dose of moderation it's ok to use it every 2nd...

Brigadier General Kimmett on TV last night

Although it is pointless to argue with folks like last_z, I'd just like to point out a few things: 1. The iraqi's loathe the US occupation more than life under Hussein. Consider this: a.) TENS OF THOUSANDS of people have been severely injured or killed due to the US invasion and occupation...

yeah, it seemed to. You really lucked out kid. What normally was a mis-application might have ended up saving your day, and all this for the random reason that you saw it at a dirt cheap irresistable price while shopping at target. hmmm. randomness at work.
