The Cr is low so it is probably not coming from the cylinders.
^This. +1 The Red Line could definitely be cleaning things out some while your...

I love Redline gear oils, but wouldn't run their engine oils.
Good point on the silicon. I see the virgin analysis in the link and found an old virgin...

Hi guys,
Looking for some advice on high iron numbers that I'm starting to see on my 2008 Chevy Trailblazer SS with just over 57k miles on the LS2. Engine is all stock other than an IEATSRT8 CAI (uses an S&B filter). This is my Fall/Winter daily driver and it sees mostly just highway miles - no...
Interesting observation on the boron. The two samples with the higher boron levels were the old PU that I used to get in the the 5qt Walmart jugs. The most recent sample was the last of my PU stash, which consisted only of PU quart bottles, some of which I had picked up on closeout at Walmart...

Nope. No additives used.
For reference, the prior samples were as follows:
11/13/10 sample - M1 5W-30
02/26/11 sample - PP 5W-30
10/08/11...
This is an odd sample from my 2008 Trailblazer SS LS2 at 56k miles. Its the first sample that I've taken since 2011 since it was very consistent before. The high iron has me a little concerned. This may not be relevant, but the strange thing is that I sent in a sample for my 2009 Chevy Cobalt...
I have an odd question.
I'm about to replace the high pressure fuel pump for my Cobalt LNF engine and the service manual indicates that "silicon-free engine oil", GM p/n 12345610, which I believe is just regular old GM Goodwrench 5W-30, must be used to lubricate a few of the fittings...
Well, I contacted Blackstone and it looks like there was indeed an error made with my sample. They apologized and immediately sent me an amended report that no longer shows any fuel. Feeling better now

A short run preceding this oil change would result in a high fuel reading. A long run at any point...

What is your oil change procedure? Was the oil cold when changed or had you just returned from a drive?
Hmm... That's a good question. I usually change the oil in my cars with the...
This is the third UOA that I've done on this 2008 Chevy Trailblazer SS since I purchased it used almost two years ago. The first UOA was using Mobil1 5W30 and the most recent two were using Pennzoil Ultra 5W30. For all of the samples I have been using K&N HP-1017 filter. Only modifications to...
