My wife has a 2005 Pontiac G6 and the unit has been replaced twice. It still binds when turning left, which I consider a safety hazard. The dealer replaced some bushings in the system per a TSB but when the system's cold is pretty sluggish.
Absolute garbage IMHO.

On cars with distributors, we used to run the oil pump with a dril for a minute to prelube the engine. Since I'm pretty sure your car has no distributor, I agree with cranking it for a few seconds to get some oil to those bearings before the engine starts making power.
Maybe a thicker oil would...
