Companies do provide Wal-Mart & other stores with cheap name branded products specifically for that chain store. Electronics & clothes are some of these. However, motor oil is not.
Going to a more viscous fluid will dampen sound waves. The thicker the fluid, the slower sound travels through it. However, I'm guessing you'd have to run a 50w oil in something that normally runs a 20w to even begin to hear a difference in perceived engine noise.

I think what OEM vehicle manufacturers are saying is, oil flow is more important to engine life than micro filtering of the oil potentially restricting flow. This is also the reason most have lowered the relief valve pressure to 8 psi vs 16 psi years ago. More than likely to help cold start oil...

Probably no syn oil is for you on such short drains. Waste of money.
On 5K drains, you should probably be going cheap while using an oil that meets whatever specs or certs your engine calls for, although even those might not...

In my humble opinion.
YMMV.
My truck takes 8 quarts, so it's basically double those prices.... Plus I change my oil every 5,000 miles, just don't know if I could ever get used to leaving it in for 10,000 miles.

That was my 2010 F150, it's gone & I have my 2017 F150. That's the one I was saying I run PP oil in now.
