Which part specifically causes a power steering pump whine?

Tried to find a video explaining why the pump starts to whine. Couldn't find anything in English. There is one in Russian. https://youtu.be/8k9rQmbC8aQ?t=706 The guy shows with his finger the place where the wear takes place.

The housing. When it wears it loses the original smooth shape.

    Strange voltage fluctuations

I have never paid too much attention to the voltage my alternator provides. I checked the voltage on the battery from time to time when the car was parked. It has always been kind of low. I suspected that my battery didn't get enough charge. I blamed the battery quality, cold winters, etc. Today...

    Car battery dead

Charging is a part of a regular maintenance to extend the battery life. At this point it makes little sense because the battery doesn't hold charge. Even if you can use the battery for a couple of weeks after charging risking to get stuck somewhere with a dead battery again.

1 agm battery vs 2 x lead acid whats the better buy?

It depends on a couple of things. A lead acid battery needs to be fully charged at least once a year. Otherwise it will degrade quickly. It can't be fully charged at 14.4 volts what most cars have. An AGM battery can be fully charged at 14.4 volts. It just takes long time. Another factor to...

is a larger alternator a no brainer?

The battery gets charged at a certain level of voltage no matter how powerful your alternator is. As an alternative you can get an AGM battery. AGM batteries can be charged at a lower voltage and at a lower ambient temperature. My lead-acid battery is charged only to 65% level if I don't charge...

"Inflate snow tires 4 psi more than recommended tire pressure"

Why didn't you question the first sentence that you cannot go faster than 120 km/h? Does it make more sense than the pressure staff?

Keto diet - protein, carb, fat ratios question

How are you going to select food based on your ratios? Any food which is high in fat may contain high amounts of carbs or protein. And if you are going to eat only 5% of carbs (which is hardly possible anyway) means you will never eat any vegetables, fruit or bread. It's a reliable way to die...

    Oil shopping USA vs France

I thought the choice of oils was very limited in Canada. Now I know that France is even worse. That is strange because in Russia you can buy almost any oil from any part of the world. Ironically, Petro-Canada oils are quite popular. And you can't find them in Canada.

    GDI Rod Bearings

5W-50 is the answer. The rod insert material is too soft so you can't do much about it. Over time the inserts get deformed.

It is complete stock. No tune whatsoever. High compression ratio requires high octane fuel.
