Filter looks to be Purolator made. Mostly highway but some in town/idling in the summer heat. This car is my daily driver right at 203,000 miles. Filter held up well I've got a red Purlator in my stash for next time. Same oil went back in with a Fram Toughguard.
Yes the MP design is the newer design with metal caps and poppet bypass and Silicone anti drain back valve. Rated for 20k according to the box. The ST is still the one pictured above rated for 10k according to packaging.
I know this has been discussed before but I wanted to find out first hand and they are the exact same thing. The Kohler media was a little tighter packed but not enough to justify the price difference.
I know this thread is pretty old but I've got a 2000 Lesabre that turned over 200k. It's been through 2 of those plastic upper intakes and lowers changed with them as well. Well know problem on the series 2 definitely worth a proper fix with that low of mileage.
It's the same exact filter just the MP is built a little tougher. Not sure how they are rolling these out so maybe they havent updated the results. I wouldn't be afraid to run it on anything requiring a 3614
They do start with MP but dont seem to cover the whole line of filters yet. I've been looking for the 338A version for my GM vehicles but no luck. Did find the MP 3614 for my wife's Fusion and Kohler lawn mower engine though.
They do but I dont think they cover the entire line of filters yet...
