    Mobil1 0w40 question for 2GR-FE Toyota

You're putting words in my mouth. Welcome to the block (ignore) party.

    Mobil1 0w40 question for 2GR-FE Toyota

Your manual was written by lawyers, not engineers. That is what I keep trying to explain. If you are comfortable with the homogenization of oil viscosity recommendations across a temperature delta of 140F moving from a range of 3 to 5 different oil viscosities, down to a single viscosity of...

    Mobil1 0w40 question for 2GR-FE Toyota

You keep taking your direction for vehicle service from the lawyers, and I'll keep taking mine from the Toyota Engineers. No need to litigate this any further. 👍

Toyota ATF intervals ... talk on Reddit

Yeah my 2022 Dealer Loaner GX460 still occasionally shifted firmly for seemingly no reason. Nearly always at light throttle. I suspect, like you, that it's just being a truck-ey transmission at that point. My loaner had under 3k miles on it.

    Mobil1 0w40 question for 2GR-FE Toyota

Oldwolf already said it: "which manual?" If you take a manual from Europe or South America, your engine will have a broad range of recommended oil weights recommended based upon ambient temperature and use case. Most people are much closer to "severe use" than they realize. I.e. most American...

Toyota ATF intervals ... talk on Reddit

Haha. Well, yeah. You transmission *will* die after the fluid gets burned up. Self-fulfilling prophecy. Like saying the air in your lungs is lifetime air. Technically....it is if you don't keep breathing. It's just that your "lifetime" is over in the next 30-90 seconds. I changed my GX460's...

Lube Gard Red 10 oz in a high mileage 4L60E

I use LG Platinum in my 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R (5EAT/JATCO) with 172k mikes. Mixture of Valvoline Syn Import ATF (ATF-HP rated) and Idemitsu ATF-HP, all Idemitsu except for the last fluid change. Not a huge difference, aside from better WOT upshifts and better/smoother behavior when cold...

    5W30 In ‘20 Corolla 1.8L ?

I have used Castrol 5w-30 Euro A3/B4 (HTHS of 3.5 or 3.6 IIRC). It's a BMW LL01 oil. It and the PUP 5w-30 are the smoothest by a fair margin. Hot or cold ambient.

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

    Great info, Dave. Thank you!

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

I use a Gold Plug for oil drain on my GX460. It collects an observable amount of "fur" at each 5k OCI. Though small, I'm *HAPPY* to not have that slurry floating around my engine.

    5W30 In ‘20 Corolla 1.8L ?

Good point, but I think it actually depends a lot on transmission tuning and shift logic. The Aisin 6 speed in my GX460 absolutely adores lugging the engine. Even when you're at 50% throttle in 6th gear, it will hold that gear indefinitely unless vehicle speed deteriorates. With TGMO 0w-20, you...

Same. They don't hurt. They probably help. I won't miss the $$ (got them on sale, anyway).

    5W30 In ‘20 Corolla 1.8L ?

100%. Rest of World manual oil charts are written by Toyota Engineers. US manual oil charts are written by CAFE. It really is that simple. I'm in Texas and my 2017 GX460 (4.6L 1UR-FE) is "rated" for 0w-20, but absolutely runs smoother on Castrol Edge Ti 5w-30 and Penzzoil UP 5w-30. Additional...

    Where a 7317 won't fit

My 2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R calls for a 9688. I use the 3593A as it is larger but still fits (I'm restricted on length and diameter). Can still get two FilterMags on the 3593A, if they are situated strategically.

Lubegard Power Steering Flush and Protect, does it work?

I use Redline D4 ATF (Dex III) in my Lexus GX460. Mix that with the correct treat rate of Lubegard PS Protectant and the steering is literally better than new (directly compared recently to my new, 2200 mile loaner GX460 during service). Never used the flush.
