List an oil Additive you'd use / No Comments

You have to remember that my car was sitting in a field for 5 years, so my engine has had a little strain too. Some of the parts were probably gummed up, and that is what probably got my from 18 mpg to 26 mpg. My engine was probably just that dirty. It probably wasn't the additive itself.

Air filter that works well and allows good air flow

I just do a good mix of the cheapest, and the best quality. I know a lot of my posts says positive stuff about the dollar tree, but unless you make a homemade filter you are not going to find one there. I would just go to Walmart, and try to look at the well known brands. Whichever one is the...

    Injector Cleaner ?

I was originally talking about Lucas's injector cleaner, but then I told the story of my 92 Bonneville. It now has a problem I don't know if Lucas can help or not.

    High Mileage Vehicles

Sometimes it is not a bad thing to get a car with high miles. I would recommend using high mileage additives every once in a while, if the engine hasn't been replaced. Sometimes getting a car with high mileage is good though because you say for example got a LeSabre with 502,683 miles on it. The...

100 mpg engine in the making.

How can a car get 100 mpg unless it is something like the old BMW Isetta's. If we are going back to the isetta's I don't want a car a gorilla can throw to the other side of town, and not even manage to seat two comfortably.

    Tire suggestions

For keeping tires for the longest you can 1. I do not do burnouts because burnouts use a lot of tread. 2. Pump the brakes in the rain or snow because if you don't you slide more, and makes more tire wear 3. I use tire shine so I can not only make the tires look better, but I also use it to...

    High Mileage Vehicles

I used to have a 1992 Toyota Celica. It had 290,000 miles, it was a standard, so my dad was driving it. He dumped the clutch because he loves driving fast. When he did that he took the transmission out. It was a well running car too, and for a little 4 cylinder, It had the power. Me and my dad...

    Best Classic "Green" Coolant

I think the whole you have to use certain brand coolants with certain car models is a lot of non sense. Both of my cars are old enough to where it don't have any recommendations on which coolant to use, but my moms 2000 s-10, and her 1997 s-10 blazer recommend using dex-cool. My moms s10 has the...

    Engine burning oil

My car is burning oil too (because of valve seals) I want to see if Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer will help as a temporary fix, because I don't know if the cracked valve seals letting the engine oil burn with the gas hurt any internal parts inside my engine.

    Injector Cleaner ?

Lucas is a very known car product. I use the oil stabilizers because the origin of my Bonneville is that someone took very good care of it, and hardly ever drove it, but it was stolen, and sitting in a field for five years. I just bought it from a commissioners auction about a year ago. I knew...

    Cold Weather Fuel Treatments

Additives to use in cold weather. If your car can take methanol I would go to the dollar tree, and get SMB super gas treatment, because it doubles as a line non-freeze up.

Fuel Injection System Clean-160K mile 01 Civic

Well I usually use dollar tree, but I have used Gumout once, and I have to say it works pretty good. I noticed a big gain in power, and in fuel economy too. Before I put it in there I got about 21 mpg, then I put it on there, and I got 26 mpg. Just about the highest you can get out of a 1992...

    Stabil, any effects on oil?

I have honestly never used it so I would not know. My dad says he has better luck if he threw water inside the engine in winter, but I don't know. I've never used it. Just quoted from someone"peddle" dollar tree stuff in my cars. I have saw that dollar tree works, but some vehicles can not take...

    Should I service a '97 4l60E at 167k? Leave alone?

The 4l60e's were good transmissions. My Bonneville has one. If it has 167k depending on the condition of the transmission has been through. If the transmission works fine, then no need. If it is starting to get problems, even if it is something as simple as when you try to shift in reverse the...
