5w-30 or 10w-49 for high mileage Jetta?

The 2.0 had some production issues where some would drink oil, and it sounds like you got one of them. VW typically recommends synthetic, 5w40 or 0w40, but 10w40 would be acceptable in HI. I would start with Rotella T6 5w40, pick up two gallons for about $20 each, so you will have some make up...

Need help with selecting a good portable generator

Regarding the city water issue, you are right though that there is no perfect solution. If you are in one of the areas that has had natural gas shut off, you have bigger problems to worry about than a flooded basement. And if I had a generator, I would have a natural gas one, knowing the issues...

Need help with selecting a good portable generator

I honestly wouldn't use a generator for sump pump backup if it needs to be run constantly. From the hurricane, I lost power for 90 hours. There are still large portions of the surrounding area that still don't have power and could be out until Wednesday. Do you want to store or have to buy 90...

    Valvoline VR1

You could change it once a year if thats all you're driving. I'm jealous of your score.

    Valvoline VR1

Buy it all! That is a fantastic price. I'm not sure on OCI but you can probably do the factory recommended. Valvoline always says to do a 3k OCI, so I wouldn't go by their recommendation.

    higher quality "powerhead" for Ryobi??

The position of the starter will tell you if it is full crank or half crank. The starter in the front is half crank, in the back is full. Obviously don't expect you to know the full details of homeowner grade equipment.

    higher quality "powerhead" for Ryobi??

The Toro that Home Depot sells is 25cc not 30.

    higher quality "powerhead" for Ryobi??

I'm suprised that the Husky is only a 50 hour rating, usually only the half crank models are that low. The Toro is a 125 hour rating.

    higher quality "powerhead" for Ryobi??

Professional models use a full crank (crank shaft), thats part of why they last longer. The cheap models use a half crank. The cheapest of the cheap. I don't know of a Ryobi branded full crank model, but the Toro is full crank. So while it is cheaper than professional equipment, it is one of the...

    higher quality "powerhead" for Ryobi??

If you have Lowes in the area, they sell the Husqvarna model.

    higher quality "powerhead" for Ryobi??

Most of the cheap ones work with Ryobi attachments. The Toro is actually a high quality unit. It is one of two options for a full crank that I know of. The other option is a Huqvarna.

    Are AAA Car batteries Junk?

Very good points, but the battery tray would make you double check that you have the right battery. In my case, the right battery is snug in the box. My car is a diesel so it needs a battery that has enough power and the ability to maintain that longer than needed for a gas car. I understand AAA...

    Are AAA Car batteries Junk?

I had a bad experience with AAA batteries but I think it was more due to incompetence on the tech's part than the fault of the battery. My dad was borrowing my car, and the battery died. He called AAA to come and replace it (I wasn't around otherwize I would have done it myself). They come out...
