    Refoaming woofer drivers

The old Advents I had to refoam needed crossovers too.

    Refoaming woofer drivers

You don't need the music to be loud enough to hear, just enough to make the coil center it's self. Using a battery may be even better because it would hold the cone stationary. I am not sure how many volts you would need a 2 AA holder from lowes or home depot should work and not over heat the...

    Refoaming woofer drivers

I have done one pair. The foam kit I ordered came with a cd to play at low power to keep the coil centered. I think it was like a 40hz test tone to keep it from moving too fast. It also came with clear plastic shims to center the voice coil, but you have to remove the center cap to use them.

    Amazon sneakingly extends delivery date

Yes, I have had that happen a few times this year. We're not talking about out of stock items that say they will ship in 2-3 weeks or whatever. These are in stock items where it states the guaranteed delivery date at the checkout page. I have probably received about as many packages earlier than...

Why the guard on wheel balancers?

No, most of the time there will be weights on the wheel when it's being spun. Whether you are checking the current balance while diagnosing a vibration or check spinning a wheel you just put weight on. The rocks in the tire can get loosened by handling the tire or the tire can pickup something...

    Obd2 dongle for iOS?

I have a old elm scan obd2 to USB cable that works with just about anything with an adapter. The autel/hyper tough ap200/ht200 works with iOS or Android but I don't think it's elm327 based or know if it can be cracked to use with other brands of software.

Fuel Mileage - Quick vs. Steady Acceleration

My mom's old Prius normally gets 45-50mpg with mixed driving. I had to help my dad move his dump truck last year after hurricane Micheal. The 2 speed rear end was stuck in low so 36mph was about as fast as he would drive. We drove 300 miles like that with me following in the Prius and all it...

Fuel Mileage - Quick vs. Steady Acceleration

Your foot also isn't directly opening the throttle, then throw in things like vvt and variable lift, variable intake runners and eco mode.

Fuel Mileage - Quick vs. Steady Acceleration

There are also pumping losses, the engine actually has to work harder to draw in air the smaller the throttle opening is. One old hyper miler trick was to use large throttle opening, but limit the rpm by short and skip shifting when accelerating.

"torque angle" vs. torque wrench comparison

No one chases the threads without a reason. This is why everyone does it by feel. You feel when the plug bottoms, then you give it just a little more.

    Pulsating brakes/shaking steering wheel

Since it is inconsistent and you say pressing the brakes harder lessens the shake I would have a look at the steering and suspension components. It could be the early stages of "death wobble."

Can different oil affect exhaust smell?

I haven't ever noticed a difference in the exhaust smell, but I have noticed a diesel engine smell different after changing the oil. I pointed it out to my coworker and he said John Deere oil had a strong smell like that too. The smell must have been coming out through the crankcase vent even...

    Tool box organization

I riveted a magnetic strip to the lid of my roll cart to hang my wrenches from. One magnet was not quite strong enough so I put another below it, but I havent riveted that one. I have it turned backward so that the magnet is stuck to the lid, but it still has enough magnetism on the back side to...
