I checked the Baldwin electronic catalog for heavy duty GM air filters and they gave the same part number as the light duty. The Wix and Napa Gold heavy duty air filters are about half the AC Delco price at the dealer. They appear to be a both a good fit and good quality.
I was using the Lucas brand. Their claim is it replaces the polymers that are removed in the oxygenation process that fuels now require. I quit using it. I did not notice a difference with or without it.
The Wix equivalent to the AC Delco PF1218 is 51060. This is the one with the anti-drain back valve. It is a large sized filter. The equivalent to the PF35 is 51061. This one does not have the anti-drain back valve. To get the Napa Gold numbers, just drop the first digit of the Wix part number.
There is a Napa Gold line of filters and a Napa Silver line of filters. They are both Wix filters. The company my son works for uses the Napa Silver line where ever possible and has had good results. They farm over 2,000 acres of permanent plantings and have lots of expensive equipment. The Napa...
I had a 1983 Nissan pick-up with a 2.4 liter engine and a five speed stick. The head gasket leaked and the carburator had to be replaced. Even after the head gasket and carburator were fixed this engine would blacken oil in less than 1,000 miles. I was tough on this pick-up. I did some towing...
I noticed that Royal Purple has a 5W-20 motor oil. I did not study the information on the web page. However, I recall it is SL rated and GF-3 certified. In this area most of the NAPA Auto Parts stores carry Royal Purple.
I have had good results with all of the BG Products that I have used. The 44K was used in conjunction with a fuel induction service performed by the local Chevy dealer. The carbon problem I had with my Chevy Tahoe went away.
In the past 20 years I have used mostly 10W-30 and some 5W-30 motor oil. I have used all of the major conventional brands. In that time I have had over 250,000 miles on a Pontiac Grand Am with a 2.5 liter engine, over 150,000 miles on a Chevy Silverado with a 5.7 liter engine and 175,000 miles...
I am not sure of the brand. However, I purchased a great grease gun at the local Massey-Ferguson tractor dealer. It has a rubber whip that is great for reaching hard to get places and has a pistol grip pump handle. It works great in tight spaces.
Chevron Supreme motor oil is readily available at Costo. The price is less than $1.00 per quart. I switched from Mobil 1 10w-30 and cannot detect any difference since the change.
I am using BG Products MI3000 every 3,000 miles and 44K every 12,000 miles. This seems to work with the bad gasoline we have in California (all brands included). Additionally, the BG Products Fuel Induction service from the local Chevy dealer eliminated the cold start knock problem.
