Very good article , thank you !!
Last winter i used motul 300V 5W30 . The friction modifiers really work!!
My thirteen year old engine rev'd like a champ . Very impressive with flawless cold starts and very limited oil consumption . I'am sold to this oil.
As for the Japanese OEM oils, what a rip off , mediocre performance.

You may meet these oils in Eastern Europe only and even here they are not widely available. They firstly appeared in Far East region of Russia and then permeated slowly into the west and then to other CIS countries. Far East region lives its own life: in the country where left-hand driving is addopted 80-85% is using right-hand cars from Japan. Right-hand ambulances are not uncommon too. In the past there were aslo police cars. So, it's seems quite logic that they have started to use oils from Japan.

Some police vehicles are native UAZ, some are right-hand motor cars.

Some time ago (about 2-3 years or so), businessmen from the Russian Far East created new "Japanese-like" motor oil brands for the Russain market: Mitasu, Takumi, Totachi, Yokki. The oils are blended in Singapore, the trademarks were registered in Japan, have japanese-like names and marketed as "True Japanese product"

I always wanted to do that. I was going to put an anime character on the bottle with a huge animated tidal wave in the background.

Then I would double the price of the oil.

Thanks to the help of Oil-Club.ru community it became possible to correct some errors and misprints in previous tables. Now the table shows correct data on Subary. Like with Nissan Strong Save-X 0W-20 SM its data posted earlier was related to 5W-30 grade. Unfortunately data on Nissan 0W-20 SM is still unavailable, so I simply removed it from the table. Besides, instead of "Kynematic Viscosity @-30C" it should be read "Apparent Viscosity @-35C". The list of OEM oils now shows two types of Nissan 0W-20. So, here is the final version (some values are rounded off):
