This is my first UOA on this vehicle. As the title states, this is RLI Bio-SynXtra HD 5w40 in a 2007 BMW 335i with the N54 motor. No makeup oil was used in this UOA. I bought this car used with about 29k miles on it about a year ago. Judging by the service records, the previous owner took it to the dealer for all scheduled oil changes before I bought it. Here's some more info:

Miles on engine: ~40k
Miles on oil: 8,000
Air Filters: OEM original (as far as I know)
Oil Filter: OEM
Temps seen during operation: mostly 40 deg F - 90 deg F
Driving Pattern: Conservative - 80% Hwy/20% City - almost every shift happens before 2500 RPM and I NEVER "get on it" until the oil reaches normal operating temperature (~220*F)
Driving frequency: Driven every day (with a few exceptions)
Average trip duration: mostly 25 minute drives
Time spent in traffic: between low and medium on average

Shell V-Power 93 octane is the only fuel used in this car.

Judging by some previous UOAs that I've seen in other N54s, I'd say this one looks pretty good. I'm not too concerned with stretching out OCIs too far past 8k, but it's nice knowing that I'm not pushing the envelope as is.

Thoughts?

Umm, not sure about that "copper is part of the base oil" thing. I had a VOA done on the RLI 0w30 and it had 0ppm of copper.

The 'HD' versions of RLI oil definetly uses copper as an additive.

Results are excellent for the engine.

I wonder if antimony is in there -- it's in the 0w30.
