LAB NUMBER: F14287 UNIT ID: 03 VIBE
OIL REPORT DATE: 8/7/2012 CLIENT ID:
REPORT
Toyota 1.8L 4-cyl (1ZZ-FE)MAKE/MODEL: OIL TYPE & GRADE: Mobil 1 10W/30
Gasoline (Unleaded)FUEL TYPE: OIL USE INTERVAL: 27,920 Miles
ADDITIONAL INFO:
COMMENTS TOM: The only thing highlighted last time was
aluminum, and that dropped back a tick this time around,
leaving your Vibe with a clean report. Iron and silicon are
still above average for this type of engine, but silicon has
been reading at this level for quite a while now, so it's not
a problem, and the excess iron is due to the long oil run.
Universal averages show 8 ppm iron is normal after ~5,600
miles of oil use, but you ran nearly five times as long on the
oil, so three times the iron isn't bad! The TBN was down to
0.8, so we wouldn't run longer for now, but this is a nice
report!

Did I read this correctly? You're doing almost 30K OCI?

Wow, I don't see a point in running oil this long, but it is nice and informative for the rest of us.
This is probably the longest oil run I have ever seen on BITOG.
And, it is a good report at that. I am surprised that you still have any TBN left after 30,000 KM!!

Oops, meant to say 30,000 Miles, not KM.
I'm blown away. Is this the SN version?
I may start using Mobil 1...

Would reconsider using a end-capless Toyota OEM standard interval filter. A synthetic extended interval filter may be a better fit for your OCI.

Kind of proves what XOM has said all along in that the Tbn will hang on for quite some time. This is the SN stuff too.
They test all Mobil 1 grades out to 25,000 miles.
Notice how oxidation resitant M1 is. You can see from this report that it's still a 30 grade, but slowly creeping up.

Buster, When you say creeping up do you mean thickening?

Yeah if I'm reading it correctly the viscosity is 11.4, which is still a solid 30 grade. It stade in grade.

Impressive , cant deny XOM makes a quality lube. +1 I would never suggest going this far either. 15k is a lot, 30k is really pushing it LOL. Held up well though in this application. No bypass filter either.

Good report relative to the miles. How many months was the oil in use. What type of driving highway/city mix?

I'm interested to know what kind of driving this engine saw during this run.

This is mostly highway driving. 15 mile trip mornings, and after noon daily. With 5 or 6 trips 50 to 80 mile plus return every week, Occasional short shopping trips also.
Had always run 15,000 Then the wife took over driving this car and ignored the stickers. Drats! I plan on going 20,000 now.
Oil was in use for about 10 months I also used the wrong info this is 5W/30 not sure tat matters. maybe moderator could fix the subject line?

These are great results. One of the more impressive long drain UOA's I've seen.
Stick with it and use the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 oil.

Very nice 1zz. A million mile engine after the oil-burning revision.
