Just wanted to share my latest UOA. Oil used is PU 5W30 SN with Subaru OEM filter(Honeywell Blue Can).

IMO the oil is working pretty well with the engine. I'm planning on staying with current oil, and filter for future 7,500 mile OCI's. I will also stop the half interval samples as I feel that I've gotten sufficient trend info from previous samples. I will not be extending my oil changes past 7,500 miles to preserve my car warranty.

This car is my DD. My driving consists of 75/25 highway/city driving. 15-20 Minutes to work 1 way. Tons of mountain driving. Desert temperatures of 100+ summer and <30 (Fahrenheit) winter temperatures. Some spirited driving once in a while. The car engine has no modifications.

Looks good for a turbo Subie.
I'd say that PU is a good pick for this engine as you use it.
Your last run of M1 EP doesn't look any better, and it did require some oil adds, but the engine is more fully broken in for this run than it was then.
Does this engine use bearings without lead?

Thin 5w-30 (almost 5w-20) in a turbocharged engine with such a high power density sporting a fairly small sump and without an external oil cooler is a no go to me in a hot climate.

It's working well for now, but a good 5w-40 or 0w-40 would be cheap insurance. If you can find PU 5w-40 that'd be dandy.

PU is thicker than M-1EP. There is nothing that screams about this UOA that 5W30 PU is less than sufficient.

OP thanks for the data this engine is looking good and either lubricant you chose will be fine for the factory recommended OCI once out of warranty you will be able to extend your OCI if you chose to. Are you planing future UOA's?

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm keeping to the 7,500 mile standard OCI since its what's mentioned in the service schedule to honor the warranty(I'm covered for 7 years 75,000 miles). 3,750 mile OCI is for severe operations I wouldn't consider my driving as severe.

2011 models is the first year Subaru started pushing for the "extended" drain schedule of 7,500 miles and as from my results it seems very reasonable with today's quality oils.

I will continue to do lab analysis just not at the frequency that I'm doing right now. I'll be doing it every oil change and will stop the half cycle sampling.

I'm planning on switching to a heavier viscosity oil after my warranty is up and start playing with engine mods.

Do you guys know whether the newer Subaru engines Turbo EJ255, EJ257 have leaded bearings? It just seems odd and I guess exceptionally good that it hasn't shown a trace in my UOA's.

My UOAs generally show 2-3 ppm of lead, so I believe Subaru did use Lead bearings at least in 2007. It's always possible they've switched.

Thanks for being the guinea pig for GF-5 oil in a turbo Subie. Ultra seems to hold up pretty well.

Hmm.. I'm thinking that they might have switched bearing material...

I do enjoy doing controlled testing/experiment so I volunteered to take one for the team on this one (I can't help it. I'm an engineer lol...). I don't see any problems running this weight of oil on my Subie. If my engine fails now I'm not too sure that the little difference in viscosity (30 vs. 40 weight) at operating temperature would do too much to save the situation.

Thanks! I gotta say that the very low NOACK figures may be correct as well. I didn't see any hint of oil consumption during this run. The oil seems to be very stable.
