Some notes:
Engine is a Isuzu 4XE1-MT turbo I4 (Lotus modified version of the Isuzu Impulse RS)

An additional 2 qts of oil was added due to the replacement of the timing belt and assorted seals midway through the oil change interval.

Lotus originally recommended using a fully synthetic 10w30 with this engine, but now recommends Mobil 1 0w40, the Mobil 1 is now in the car.

Purchased the car at the beginning of the oil use. Not sure what the previous owner used.

This is what Blackstone has to say:
Quote:

We haven't seen a lot of these Isuzu engines before, so our average file isn't as solid as it
might be. We'll know more about your engine as trends develop, but at the present time, we don't see
anything too out of line. Aluminum and iron are a bit higher than average, but your oil run was also twice as
long, so a little extra metal isn't necessarily a bad thing. Other metals look great. The viscosity was just a
touch low, but that shouldn't give you any trouble. The 0.8% fuel isn't a serious concern either. Overall, this
is a nice report. Resample in 5K for another look.

Can you tell any difference between the 10W-30 and the 0W-40? The reason I ask is because I have a car with an Isuzu 4XF1 (1.8L non-turbo) and when I tried switching over from 5W-30 to Mobil 1 0W-40 the engine seemed noticeably more sluggish. I replaced the Mobil 1 0W-40 with Mobil 1 AFE 0W-30 and the sluggishness went away.

Yes M1 0W-40 is considerably heavier than Syntec 10W-30.
I would be inclined to go with a 5W-30 syn meeting the Honda HTO-06 turbo spec'. If the car has an oil pressure gauge ultimately I would make my oil viscosity choice based on that.

is it correct information that the oil sheared 2 grades from cst100 13.5 to 8.9?? What is causing that? fuel?

The posted analysis is for Castrol Syntec 10W-30. M1 0W-40 is the new oil that just replaced it.

Neat report. Engine seems to be doing great. Please update us if you do another report down the road. It's amazing. You'd never think you'd see such a unique car especially at 20 years plus at BITOG.

I'm impressed by report, car, and engine!

Nice report! Insols creeping up. What oil filter was used?

What's the starting viscosity on this oil? I know the old Edge 10w30 was quite thin for a 10w30 (under 10 if I remember correctly).
